St Andrew’s Church, Linton Road,
is providing an opportunity for 11-18s
from the schools in the surrounding
area to come to their new after school drop in centre.
They meet term time on a
Wednesday afternoon from 3:30-5:30pm. The space exists to
be a safe place for young people to play games, do homework,
chat, and drink hot chocolate. It is run by the youth work team
at St Andrew’s.
Cooking club starts on Friday 19th January. If you
would like to join please come to the food room on
north – T5 and collect a recipe booklet as soon as
possible as numbers are limited. Open to all year
groups.
At certain points in the year there will be KS4 and KS5 drama rehearsals for exam performances.
Cherwell Filming Club is a student-led club that films, edits and produces films for the school and community. We meet on Friday after school in the media room on north site- next to the food tech rooms. Come along any time if you’re interested in filming, reporting, or photography, no experience needed! Snacks provided most weeks! Email us at [email protected] for more info.

For 2017/18 there are lots of ECF run National School Chess Tournaments that we can enter. They cater for a wide range of playing ability, so please do email Miss Bates ([email protected]) if you are interested in playing at any level. You can also find more information on the ECF website: http://englishchess.org.uk/NSCC/. Under 19 Championships Any school or sixth form college can enter teams of 6 players. Strong teams qualify directly for the spring term regional rounds. Others play at qualifying tournaments in the autumn term. 16 teams will play at a two day National Final at Uppingham School in July 2018. Girls’ Under 19 Championships Any school or sixth form college with female pupils can enter teams of 3 female players. One day semi-finals in early 2018; two day national final in Easter holiday 2018 Team Chess Challenge Any secondary school can enter teams of 4 players. Weekday afternoon qualification events in schools around the county in the autumn and spring terms, final at Imperial College in April 2018. Junior Team Chess Challenge Any school with students in Years 7 and 8 and below. Afternoon qualifying events in the autumn and early spring terms, one day national final at Hertford College, Oxford in April 2018

GIRLS SPORT IS ON FIRE!!
Year 9 Girls Football - Well done to the girls who narrowly lost in the last 16 of the
Nationals. A fantastic Achievement!
Year 7 Girls Football- SOUTH OF ENGLAND CHAMPIONS
The Year 7 Girls Football produced a magnificent display to win their regional 5 aside
tournament against 14 other schools from the south! They are now the best team in
southern England and will be representing the south in a national tournament hosted in
Birmingham next month!
Girls Netball
Lots of games this week with fantastic results – Well done on these outstanding
performances, Thank you all for your support and hard work!
Sports Hall Athletics
Fantastic performances from the Year 7 and 8 Girls and Boys, They have won the City
Schools Sports Hall Athletics competition. They will now represent the city in the
county event in April. Well done to all involved.
Sports Leaders
Over 30 Year 9 students have been involved in leading and organising the City Sports
Hall Athletics for over 150 Primary and Year 7 and Year 8 students.
