A MESSAGE FROM Our Pastor
Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ,
Happy All Saints Day!
Happy All Souls Day!
Happy Festival!
The Gospel of the Beatitudes allows us to hear a charter
of what it means to be a follower of Christ. This founda-
tion of humility takes us up to see how God sees us, and
how we can EMBRACE His invitation to likewise follow His
lead to live pure of heart in a heartbeat of love. This summary of
Christian living captures the joy of our oneness with God, as we
honor the holy men and women who live the love of God to the
glory of the resurrection.
These joyful days invites us to direct our compunction to seek
reconciliation and renewal of faith that takes us back to God.
There is joy in giving. There is completeness in loving. As we
look at the church tapestry of the communion of Saints, may all
the souls of our departed brethren, who have gone before us,
share the victory and enjoy the vision of God’s saving work.
As we reflect on the beatitudes, we ask the Lord to help us live
our lives according to the purpose for which we are made, to
worship God, and serve our neighbors.
How can we live a more committed life as a disciple and follow-
er of the beatitudes provided for us?
What steps have we made to allow Christ’s life to shine upon us?
How are we contributing to peace, in midst of conflict and disa-
greements in today’s world?
Lord Help Us to nourish the grace you gave us on this Holy
Day. Bestow on us we pray, through the abundance of the Saints
of heaven, the courage and inspiration to work in Your vine-
yard, advancing ourselves to reconcile our life with You. May
our celebration of the commemoration of all the souls in purga-
tory bring eternal life to us who believe it.
Fr. David Vivero
Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
¡Feliz día de todos los Santos!
¡Feliz día de todos las Almas!
¡Feliz Festival!
regreso a Dios. Existe la alegría en dar. Existe completamiento en
amar.

Gospel Meditation
For Your Day
emember as a child the meticulous-
ness my father would bring to a task. Wheth-
er it be tending to a chore in the yard, repair-
ing something, or painting a room, the tiniest
of every detail demanded his attention. He
had great patience. I benefited greatly by his
example and remember these lessons well.
We all need examples to follow. It is im-
portant to identity folks who excel at simple
things and show us how to do things well.
There are those among us and those who
have gone before us who serve as these mod-
els and witnesses. They are ordinary people
who in their “extraordinary ordinariness”
capture our attention and allow us to see
things more clearly.
These are the prophets, martyrs, teachers,
witnesses, heralds, and innovators who
bring a single- minded devotion to God to
even the simplest of tasks they perform.
They have an openness to being used and
become vessels of Divine justice, mercy,
and presence. They call us to the “more” of
life and point us to the Gospel in all of its
simplicity and splendor. They remind us of
the little ones of the Kingdom and the val-
ues we all need to cultivate and possess.
They are the poor in spirit, the meek, the
merciful, and the peacemaker who often are
rejected not only by those who have far
different agendas but by those you think
would welcome them.
All of the saints in heaven and on earth
form this cloud of witnesses who journey
with us as we make our way through life.
They offer us inspiration, wisdom, interces-
Welcome!
All Are Welcome Here If you are alienated or upset, we welcome you lovingly. If you are
in need of forgiveness, Jesus forgives you completely—with unconditional love. If you have been hurt by the Church, we are truly sorry. If you are angry, Jesus offers you peace. If life has become burdensome, we are here to support you. We are happy you are here and want you to stay. We would like to share our lives with you. Come join us each week so we can worship God together.

sion, and support. They direct us toward
true happiness and remind us that we are all
called to be saints. All it takes is desire, love,
and fidelity. There is much we can learn
from the official saints of the church. Their
guidance is ever before us and ever with us.
But there is also a lot to learn from the un-
official saints of the church. They sit beside
us every Sunday, are our neighbors and
ordinary people we meet every day. Because
of the devotedness of their faith, they re-
mind us to keep going, remain focused, and
cultivate purpose and meaning, and give
voice to those who have none. The inspira-
tion is all around us.
Pay attention to the details. Do what you do
with great love. Know that you are not
alone. Believe that you can persevere. Have
great faith. ©LPi

We Serve...
The Festival this year is being presented
mostly online, due to Covid restrictions.
However, it has required no less effort from
the many volunteers and staff that have
tirelessly worked to create a whole new
environment in which our community can
gather and rejoice together. God works in
many strange ways to draw us to Him, and
this year’s Festival will hopefully do just
that. After all, isn’t that what it’s all about?
Our deepest thanks go out to those that
serve their Parish community by providing
the drive-thru Food Specialties; those that
collect and create the Silent Auction baskets;
those that stuff tickets and manage the 50/50
Raffle; those that have given of their time
and talents for uplifting musical perfor-
mances; those that have shared themselves
to do the Jail-A-Friend fundraiser; those that
are the Sponsors of our events and have
made them possible; those that work in the
background to facilitate and administrate
the entire Festival; and those who promote,
create and produce all you see online, as
well as in-person. A big, heartfelt Thank
You To All!

N icholas and his three com-
panions are among the 158 Franciscans who have
been martyred in the Holy Land since the friars became custo-
dians of the shrines in 1335.
Nicholas was born in 1340 to a wealthy and noble family in Croa-tia. He joined the Franciscans, and
was sent with Deodat of Rodez to preach in Bosnia. In 1384, they
volunteered for the Holy Land missions and were sent there. They
looked after the holy places, cared for the Christian pilgrims, and
studied Arabic. In 1391, Nicholas, Deodat, Peter of
Narbonne, and Stephen of Cuneo decided to take a direct approach to
converting the Muslims. On No-vember 11, they went to the huge Mosque of Omar in Jerusalem and asked
to see the Qadix—Muslim official. Reading from a prepared statement, they said that all people must accept the gospel of Jesus. When they were
ordered to retract their statement, they refused. After beatings and impris-onment, they were beheaded before a large crowd.
Nicholas and his companions were canonized in 1970. They are the only Franciscans martyred in the Holy Land to be canonized. Their Liturgical
Feast is November 14.
All Saints Day - Nov. 1st The Solemnity of All Saints The earliest certain observance of a feast in honor of all the saints is an early fourth-century commemoration of “all the martyrs.” In the early seventh century, after successive waves of invaders plundered the cata-
combs, Pope Boniface IV gathered up some 28 wagon-loads of bones and reinterred them beneath the Pantheon, a Roman temple dedicated to all the
gods. The pope rededicated the shrine as a Christian church.

Faith Formation Updates
TUESDAY EVENING PROGRAM We continue to meet weekly via Zoom. The children are doing an out-standing job in this new format. All have been very attentive, fully partici-pating. Attendance has almost been 100% every week. In addition to regu-
lar Zoom sessions children are assigned Jesus Training Exercises at three different levels: Jr. Disciple, Disciple and Apostle level. Designed to enforce
the lesson taught, children may select any level depending on their faith experience. If they are exceptionally aware of a particular topic (i.e. Mass,
Prayers, Saints, etc.) they may decide to complete the Apostle level activity. Or if it’s a topic they are only marginally aware the Disciple level is appro-
priate. If the topic is new to them then they may decide to complete the Jr. Disciple exercise. All in all the children and families are eager to stretch
and grow in faith. One of our first graders, Francesca completed the Jr. Disciple exercise where she drew a picture of her favorite part of the Mass and the
items used during that particular part of the Mass. This past week children learned
that the Roman Missal is the big book of prayers used by the priest during Mass.
Mia also did the Jr. Disciple exer-
cise and Samuel chose to complete a Disciple exercise
where he illustrat-ed one of the Sun-
day readings. What is your favorite part of the Mass?
FIRST RECONCILIATION PREPARATION There are a handful of families who still need to pick up there preparation materials. In order to remain on track for celebrating First Reconciliation in December, these materials must be picked up. By now most families
should be finishing up Chapter 2 and starting Chapter 3. If you need any extra assistance in preparing your children for 1st Reconciliation and First
Eucharist there is a regularly scheduled Parent Zoom Session in English and Spanish on Monday evenings beginning at 6:30PM. Please contact Ms.
Holly for Zoom Meeting credentials.

All Souls Day - Nov. 2nd The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed The Church has encouraged prayer for the dead
from the earliest times as an act of Christian
charity. “If we had no care for the dead,” Au-
gustine noted, “we would not be in the habit of
praying for them.” The theological underpin-
ning of the Feast of All Souls is the acknowledg-
ment of human frailty. Since no human achieves
perfection in this life but, rather, goes to the
grave still scarred with traces of sinfulness,
some period of purification seems necessary
before a soul comes face-to-face with God. The
Council of Trent affirmed this purgatory state
and insisted that the prayers of the living can
speed the process of purification. These days,
purgatory is often seen as the purifying fire of
God's love! Observances of this day include
public processions or private visits to cemeteries
and decorating graves with flowers and lights.
This feast is observed with great fervor in Mexi-
co, as is known as the "Día de los Muertos".
All Souls Church is named after this important feast day, grounding us all in the work to be
done here on earth, before we enter into Our Lord's presence and are united in eternal love.
We strive to serve God's purposes for our lives in this world, while keeping our eyes and hearts fixed on Jesus.
An “All Souls Mass” will be offered at the
All Souls Cemetery, on Nov. 2nd, at 5pm.
Online Family Life Workshops Every family, no matter what it looks like, has the power to transform the world. Starting November 4, join us online as we talk about some practical ways to strengthen the bonds of relationship within your home and share the warmth of love within your family with oth-ers. All three sessions will be held on Face-book, on the Diocese of Orlando – Office of Laity, Family & Life page.

National Vocations
Awareness Week
This week (Nov. 1–7) is National Vocations
Awareness Week, a celebration in the Church where we honor the U.S. Bishops’ desire to put the
awesome calling to priesthood and religious life on our hearts. You can do two simple things to
help create a culture of discernment in our Dio-cese. The first is PRAY. Many of you pray for
vocations regularly. Please keep it up! The Gospel tells us to be persistent! The second is INVITE people to consider the life. Do you know someone
who has a faith that inspires you, and you have a gut feeling they might have a calling? Let them
know! The Holy Spirit can take it from there. For More Information, contact the Diocese at:
407.768.3113 or visit the Vocations Page at www.orlandodiocese.org.
