FOOTBALL INFORMATION EXAMPLES

Above are pages from the Falcons weekly release that I worked on during my internship. I established a new page of stats devoted to Next Gen Stats, illustrating a different way to approach the new software.

Below are pages from the Chiefs weekly release that I owned during my internship. I was in charge of multiple

pages featuring player charts and our Business Page about community initiatives.

WRITING EXAMPLES

Adobe SparkThe image to the right is a screenshot of the Atlanta Falcons Salute to Service Week presented by Zaxby’s recap Spark that I had the opportunity to put together for the Community Relations department. This Spark was just one of many that I had the op-portunity to work on throughout this season.

Visit the link here to view my portfolio of Adobe Sparks.

Media Advisories Above is one of many media advisories that I wrote and sent out to the media during my time at Kansas City, promoting the events that our Community Relations department put to-gether that involved players from the team.

Press ReleasesAbove is an example of one of the press

releases that I wrote about signing a new player during Free Agency.

STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONBelow are examples of scenarios that I have had the opportunity to learn from during my

career. Each circumstance has been one of the most influential learning experiences I have gained professionally.

• Atlanta Falcons Move On From All Coordinators Following the 2018 season, the Falcons let go all three of their coordinators after a 7-9 finish and missing the playoffs. It was one of the few cases that the PR department could find that an NFL team moved on from all three coordinators yet the head coach still maintained his role. The PR department sent out a press release, along with

quotes from Head Coach Dan Quinn explaining why the team moved away from each coor-dinator. PR held an end of the season press conference with Quinn and General Manager Thomas Dimitroff days after the news. • Marcus Peters SuspensionDuring the 2017 season, the Kansas City Chiefs suspended CB Marcus Peters for one game for his actions during a loss to the New York Jets. Rather than releasing a statement, the PR department decided to have Head Coach Andy Reid announce during a press conference that Peters would not be playing the following Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. By having Reid announce it, he was able to answer any questions about the situ-ation right then, allowing the focus to be shifted back to their upcoming game that Sunday.

• Joe Tumpkin Resigns After reports of Colorado assistant coach Joe Tumpkin had been surfacing revolving a situ-ation surrounding domestic dispute, the CU Athletics Sports Information Department, in-cluding Head Coach Mike MacIntyre, Athletic Director Rick George and chancellor Philip D. DiStefano released separate statements regarding the situation.

LESSONS LEARNED Each experience mentioned above was unique in its own way. I walked away with valuable lessons that you can only learn during a situation that involves strategic communication.

• Be prepared for any outcome and always have the facts • Actions by a player/coach that occur before joining the team was not in your control, the

message communicated begins when they join the team • Be a professional and always show support for the player/coach

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Above is an example of the credential log I estab-lished at the Falcons to manage single-game cre-dential requests. I was in charge of approval/denial of local/national media requests, the distribution of credentials and managing media will-call on gamedays.

Below is an example of talking points that I organized for the Chiefs President, Mark Donovan, prior to a Communi-ty event that he was speaking at and where he would be made available to local media.

Below is an example of the monthly media report I collected and was sent to leadership at the Falcons. The report - which I also created on a weekly basis - included readership numbers from clippings that was totaled through Coverage Book and tele-vision viewership numbers, collected from TVEyes. I also tracked positive and negative sentiment.
