Staffing Update – 1/2SS Our staffing dilemma was fixed this morning with Mrs Jodie Murray taking on Mrs Sanson’s teaching role for the next two terms. Jodie has been at Lavington East Public School for many years and we are delighted to have her working with our students for the first four days of each week. Many thanks to Mrs Stevens for also offering to come back to school for another day whilst she is on maternity leave. Millie will have the class on Thursday and Fridays.

Athletics Update Our Athletics Carnival was held last Friday. We had perfect conditions for students competing. Plenty of great sportsmanship and perseverance was on show all day. A huge thank you to the parents who volunteered their time helping and also those who attended to support their child/ren and thank you also to the James Fallon High School students who were exceptionally well behaved and very helpful. We could not have run the carnival without this support. The highlight of the day had to be the relay race which had entries from the 4 Houses, parents, James Fallon High School, and teachers. Will this teachers’ team ever be beaten? We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

Age Champions

Zac Hamilton has also made the Albury PSSA AFL team. We wish these students all the best with their upcoming games.

Riverina Swimming Carnival This Wednesday The Riverina Swimming Carnival is on this Wednesday. We would like to wish Jenna Ruhbaum and Sarah Madew all the best in their events.

School Photos We all loved having our photos taken this morning by Jarrod at MSP photography but we found out that some people had left their payment slips at home. Jarrod said not to panic. You have until the end of the week to go on-line and make the payment and you will still be able to get your photos!

Can you please help out our office ? Our office can be very busy with enquiries and phone calls at the end of the day. You can help us out by walking around this area rather than through it after you have collected your child.

·

Sharing Food and Money Whilst we love the idea of kids being able to share with each other, last week we had a couple of occasions where children were sharing money and food that they didn’t want or need. In classes we have mentioned the fact that some of our children could get quite ill if they eat the wrong food. We are asking you to also have a conversation with your children about the importance of not sharing. At the end of every recess and lunch break, we remind students to either take uneaten food home or put it in the bin.

We Can Fix Bikes Update: The students fixing bikes are very excited to announce that there are 5 bikes ready to be given away to kids at our school. The 5 bikes are different sizes. We are running a competition to find 5 winners! If you would like to win a bike, see Ms Sheldrick for an entry form and write in 25 words or less why you would like a bike. Put your name and Class on the piece of writing and post it at the office. Entries close this Thursday morning at 9:00. NO LATE ENTRIES!

Missing School Leaves Gaps in Education This week we will be sending out letters to families where attendance concerns have been identified. Whilst we recognise that some families have taken holidays and some kids have been genuinely sick, our policies still require us to send a letter to parents to inform them of their child’s attendance rate. Like always, please contact the school if you receive a letter and would like to discuss the contents of it. Mr Fury, Ms Sheldrick and Mr Smith will be the best people to speak to . School Goal : To have more than 80 % of our children coming to school more than 95% of the time. (We don’t count sporting carnivals or other school events).

The meetings usually only go for an hour and they are held on the first Monday of each month. Look for the dates in the newsletters. Congratulations to the following office bearers: President : Peter Takle Vice-President : Julie Bunn Secretary : Belinda Westerlo Treasurer: Alison Ruhbaum Canteen Supervisor: Cheryl Dinan Breakfast Club Coordinator: Angela Walters Fundraising: No-one yet.
