P ’ M As we approach the end of Term I would like to thank our students, parents, staff and community for their efforts during what has been a difficult time. I look forward to more normality returning in Term 4. Yr12 return for the first week in Term 4 for formal lessons before starting their Higher School Certificate examinations. We wish them all the best and remind them it is never too late to study and to seek support if needed. I'd also like to remind them of the special COVID conditions regarding exams, information about which has been sent home. The students must not attend exams if showing COVID symptoms. They need to contact the school as soon as possible regarding appeals if necessary and the requirements of supporting medical documentation. As at the time of writing we are still unsure of the operating conditions for Term 4. Currently the Yr6 into Yr7 orientation is planned to go ahead in a modified format but we are waiting until guidelines are clarified before communicating fully with parents. As soon as we are able we will contact parents regarding transitions activities. As a welcome to AHS for Yr6, the P&C has generously donated the book pack for all 2021 Yr7 students. These will be available for collection on the first day next year. This is a ‘one off’ in recognition of the impact of COVID and to support families in our community. All other students booklists will be distributed in Term 4, however book packs will be unavailable to be purchased from the school and parents will need to source the required materials themselves. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. We are entering a new planning period for our strategic plan which will run from 2021 to 2024. I encourage parents to complete the ‘Tell Them From Me’ survey. (See the link in the next article from Mrs Hayward.) This information will be used when creating our plan. Consultation will also occur with the P&C, School Council, staff, student body through focus groups, SRC and Prefects. We also have representatives from our community assisting with developing the plan. Our focuses at the moment, informed by data, will be on student and staff wellbeing, professional learning for staff and reading with a particular focus on vocabulary, comprehension and writing. This may change as the consultation process evolves. The aim of the new planning process is to find one major initiative to work on in each area above, and to make sure we are successful before moving onto the next initiative.

Mr Darryl Ward Principal

T M S AHS values the relationship it has with our school community and when we get the chance we like to strengthen this relationship. We would appreciate you taking the time to answer a few questions on the Tell them From Me survey by following this link. http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/qx4x4
