2016 ADOA Conference - Beyond our Borders We all have that line on the map that defines our boundary and our comfort zone, but what can

we do to stretch those boundaries in order to engage more stakeholders, find new partners,

access resources and share insights? This Conference hopes to set you on a path to breaking

down your borders and seeing things through a new lens. For the conference package, please

click here.

Conference Tours A reminder to sign up for the free tour on your application form. There are two exciting options:

Nelson RTM Lumber: The tour will consist of delegates touring the factory floor with

representatives from Nelson Lumber in continuation with the presentation that is presented

earlier in the day. Following the factory tour, delegates will tour the RTM in the yard with the

representatives along with the possibility of prize(s) to be given away. Please bring closed

toed shoes/boots with yourselves to the tour (NO OPEN OPENED TOED SHOES ALLOWED),

safety glasses will be provided, if you need Safety glasses over you current eye wear please

bring them with you.

Fire Training Centre (Lakeland College Vermillion): The tour is proposed to be 2 hours

in length and delegates will be divided into groups that will rotate through the Smoke Tower,

where participants will search through the Tower (possible Smoke effect will be available).

Delegates will also tour the training field here with an interactive map. Participants will tour the

fire tower, spray targets, and a possible group photo in front of a fire engulfed Christmas Tree.

The tour will have a Q&A session upon completion of the tour in the lecture theatre.

ADOA Pre-Conference Golf Tournament Come Join us Tuesday, September 27th at 11am to register and enjoy some lunch prior to hitting the green for an 18 Hole Golf Scramble at Rolling Greens Golf Course. Find out more in the Registration Package.

Tuesday Evening Monte Carlo - Glam & Gambling Be sure to join us after you pick up your registration package for an evening of Glitz and Glamour at the Monte Carlo in the Crown Ballroom from 6-9pm.

Days Hotel & Suites in Lloydminster,

AB.

If you are unable to book a room at

this hotel, there are various other

hotels in the area holding rooms with

special rates during our Conference.

Grant Applications Have you applied for your ADOA Grant for courses taken within the last

year, which are applicable to your Development Officer position within

your Municipality?

Did you know that even if your Municipality has paid for your courses that

you may be eligible for a grant to assist them in providing you with the

funds to continue your education?

The deadline of August 31, 2016 is fast approaching for this past years

courses.

Upcoming Annual General Meeting

Regional Meetings

The AGM will be held during the 2016 conference at lunch on Thursday, September 29th. The meeting

will start shortly after noon and continue until approximately 1:30 pm .

Please Submit your legal questions for the upcoming Bear Pit Session to [email protected] for our legal

experts to discuss at the Conference.

The Board encourages the ADOA membership to gather with your peers for discussions on topics rele-

vant to development in your area of the province. North-central Alberta Development Officers have

gathered in various communities over the past year to hold luncheon meetings where current topics and

application of land use regulations have been discussed and ideas shared. If you’d like more infor-

mation about organizing your own regional meeting, please contact the Executive Assistant Diane
