Definitions
Akinetopsia: neuropsychological disorder in which apatient cannot percieve motion in visual field, but can seestationary objects just fine.
Nefazodone: anti-depressant drug5-HT2 receptors: receptors that bind serotonin
Palinopsia: a visual disturbance that causes images topersist to some extent even after their corresponding
stimulus has left.HIV Protease Inhibitors: drugs used to prevent infectionby human immunodeficiency virus

Case studies
Patients taking nefazodone experienced symptomsof akinetopsia, possibly related to their dosages ofnefazodone.
Patients had slightly different perceptions of movingobjects. Typically though, multiple fuzzy images.
When nefazodone dosages were lowered or ceased,
symptoms terminated.

Conclusions
High dosages of Nefazodone are associated withakinetopsia. There is a connection between 5-HT2antagonists and palinopsia/akinetopsia.
Nefazodone dosages should be reduced in thepresence of other 5-HT2 antagonists.
Neurons in the area MT (V5) use 5-HT as a
neurotransmitter.
