Aiming High for Disabled Children:Short Breaks Definition

‘opportunities for disabled children and young people to spend time away from their primary carers. These include day, evening, overnight or weekend activities and take place in the child’s own home, the home of an approved carer, or a residential or community setting.’

• Access to services without social care assessment• Overnight breaks not always what is wanted

although important to provide for those most in need

• The following are mandatory criteria, all of the below points must be met for a bid to be considered:– Ofsted/CSCI Registration– Adequate insurance levels as outlined in the terms and

conditions– Safeguarding policy and procedures– Demonstrate consultation with stakeholders– Aiming High Criteria– Group of disabled children – eligibility criteria – Robust organisation. Eg. Reg Charity– Financial Stability
