The broad discipline of engineering encompasses a range of more specialized sub-disciplines, each with a more specific emphasis on certain fields of application and particular areas of technology. Engineering expertise and technology are major contributors to mining, construction, transportation and infrastructure. Use of current technologies & creation of new technologies are at the heart of the engineering profession. Engineering education must have an eye on the fruits of the profession's labour. Designing our educational program towards these ends will have a tremendous impact on the viability of the profession in practice. In the last quarter century, technology and society exhibited two defining characteristics: namely increasing rates of change and increasing complexity.

Programme Curriculum Threads
About the Programme:
Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and structures. A wider meaning would include within this scope the design of any built environment, structure or object, from town planning, urban design, and landscape architecture to furniture and objects. Doing architecture requires strong technical knowledge in the fields of engineering, logistics, geometry, building techniques, functional design and ergonomics. It also requires a certain sensibility to arts and aesthetics. Finally, it also requires a preoccupation for human questions and society's problems. Architecture is a very broad and humanistic field that is at the same time technical, artistic and social.
