LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENTMODEL

"This experience has made me a better person, as I amable to understand other people better. Working with

people from other countries, I became more adjusting as Ibecame more flexible to account for different working

styles of other people. The main challenge was adjustingto working style and habits of people who were not from

Asia. Another challenge was the language which Iovercame by learning specific phrases to communicate

with the locals who did not speak English.”

ExpectationsFrequently Asked Questions

1. Can I travel during my project?Usually projects have a day off each week to allow

EPs to travel and the hosting entities may organize

trips for their EPs.

Leave any big trips for before or after your project

duration though. Your focus during your project

should on your project.

2. How much will my trip cost overall?

There are many factor that go into overall cost

including international health insurance, visa,

vaccinations (if necessary), airfare, cost of living in

your host country, and many other things.

For this reason it is hard to ball park a general

figure.

As a very tough estimate, research one of our

available destinations and add $1000 to the airfare

as overall cost.

3. Where does the program fee go?AIESEC has a social enterprise business model.

This means that all of the program fee goes towards

growing AIESEC sustainably, allowing us to provide

more and better experience.

55% of te fee goes towards local operations and

45% towards national operations. Operations

include marketing, education, training, iSOS

membership and running EP workshops and events.

4. What if I run into problems on exchange?

Your host and sending local chapters will be there

to support you during your exchange.

Insurance is compulsory for the duration of your

exchange so you can have a comfort of mind

should there be any problems.

In the case of a security or medical emergency,

International SOS also has emergency services

which you will have access to.

5. Who will help me when I arrive in myhost country?

All AIESEC internships are connected to a local

chapter of AIESEC in your host country whose

purpose is to help you during your internship.

More concretely, the members of your host local

chapter will organise your accommodation, pick you

up from the airport (or give you directions

and the address of your accommodation), and

accompany you to work on your first day.

In addition, they will integrate you into their activities,

organise events for you and the other interns and

help you get to know the people and

culture of their own country. If there should be any

problems, they will also be your local lifeline for help.

Your local chapter in Australia will also

do everything possible to repeatedly keep in contact

with and support you during your internship.

6. I’m not sure if I want to go with aproject yet

We understand that going on an exchange is a big

decision and you might need to talk to parents. In

our introduction package, we’ve included parents

letters to help you with it.

We recommend looking at projects and applying to

some that interest you first to get to know more

project specific details.

Then when you’ve been accepted, as long as you

have not signed the Acceptance Note yet, you still

have time to decide.

Many of our EP managers have also been on

exchange so you can talk to them about their

experience too!
