The Agitated Vacuum Pan Dryer is oneof the most versatile in the Mitchellrange and is widely used for batchdrying of slurries, solutions, filtercakes, damp powders and crystallineproducts. The dryer essentiallycomprises a flat bottomed, jacketed,cylindrical vessel arranged for hotwater, steam or thermal oil heating.Dryers are available in the capacityrange 75-2135 litres incorporatingoptional features as noted.

Dryer FeedWet material is fed into the dryer through a hinged,counter balanced top cover or a hinged accessmanhole dependent upon dryer capacity andlocation. Access into the interior of the dryer forcleaning is readily available through the same topcover or manhole.

Product DischargeThe discharge door is fitted in the lower side wallof the vessel and product discharge is effected byuse of the agitator. Discharge time is dependentupon material flow characteristics, the agitatordesign and its speed of rotation.

AgitatorThe rotating agitator arm sweeps all the internalheat transfer surfaces and its gentle, effectiveaction continually presents fresh material to theheating surfaces and facilitates homogeneousmixing. A choice of agitator designs which can bearranged with or without heating is available to suitthe material characteristics and processrequirements.

Dimensions and Capacities basic unit

Materials of construction

Normally all contact parts in appropriate grades ofstainless steel, other alloys and metals available. Jacketin stainless steel or painted mild steel. Rubber/PTFEseals and gaskets to suit application.

Finish

Vessel internal and external metal surfaces polished toany required finish. Carbon steel components primedand painted to suit.

Design Codes

Normal design is to BS 5500 or ASME VIII.Other codes can be accommodated.GMP Standards
