Register and pass the Praxis Core and Praxis II tests, as well as the Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA)

Praxis & VCLA

Register for and pass the Praxis Core and Praxis II tests. The Praxis II test required for admission is English Language Arts: Content Knowledge (5038). Passing scores on both the Praxis Core and Praxis II are required for admission into the program. Students can pass out of the Praxis Core exam with a state-approved SAT or ACT score.  SAT as a Substitute for the Praxis Core Test:

SAT taken Prior to April 1, 1995 : a score of 1000 with at least 450 on the verbal and 510 on the mathematics tests ;

SAT taken After April 1, 1995 : a score of 1100 out of 1600 (not including the writing portion) with at least 530 on the verbal and 530 on the mathematics tests.

Deadlines and Follow Up

Preferred for Fall applications (Dual Enrollment)- October 15th Applying after Oct 15th risks no more room in cohort/

missing deadline for Dual-enrollment in Spring.

Preferred deadline for Spring applications (2 year option)- March 1st
