PURPOSE
TopresenttheFirstQuarterCustomerServiceExcellenceAwardstooutstandingemployeesonbehalfoftheCobbCountyCustomerServiceCouncil.
BACKGROUND
In1991, aCobbCountyCustomerServiceTaskForcewasformedtoevaluateandmakerecommendationstoimprovethequalityofcustomerservicedeliverytoresidentsandthoseconductingbusinesswiththeCounty. Tothisend, theCobbCountyCustomerServiceCouncilhasredesignedtheprogramtoenhancetherecognitionofexceptionalemployees, providingforameaningfulmechanismofrecognition.
CountyDepartmentsaredividedintotengroups. Eachgroupnominatesemployeeswhobestexemplifythehighestlevelofcustomerserviceasthe CustomerServiceSpecialist. AllCobbCountyemployeesareeligibleforsuchrecognition. FortheFirstQuarterof2015, fouremployeeshavebeenselectedfortheiroutstandingcommitmenttocustomerservicedeliveredtoboththeirfellowemployeesaswellasexternalcustomers. Attheendofeachcalendaryear, one CustomerServiceSpecialist shallbeselectedfromallquarterlyhonorees.

OnOctober10, 2006, theBoardofCommissionersapprovedaMemorandumofUnderstandingMOU) betweentheCobbCountyDepartmentofPublicSafetyandtheNationalParkServiceNPS) thatrenewsamutualaidandcooperativecommunicationsagreementbetweenthetwo
entities. InaccordancewithFederalguidelines, eachfederalparkpursueandobtainanagreementwithlocalagenciestobetterservethepublicandprotectparkresources, employees, andvisitors.
TheUnitedStatesDepartmentoftheInterior, NationalParkService (KennesawMountainNationalBattlefieldPark) hasagreedtoaMOUwiththeCobbCountyPoliceDepartmentthatestablishesmutuallawenforcementassistancewithinandaroundtheKennesawMountainNationalBattlefieldParktopromotethewelfare, safetyandenjoymentofparkvisitorsandprotectparkresources. Additionally, theagreementprovidesthecooperativecommunicationsthroughthe800MHzmobileandportableradiosnecessaryforparkstafftoadequatelycommunicatewithCobbCounty.
Theagreementwillbeeffectiveforfiveyearsfrom thedatelastsigned, unlessitisterminatedearlierbyeitherpartyinaccordancetotheagreement. ThedepartmentproposestopurchasethreePolicePackageTahoesatanequippedcostof40,836.95andatotalcostof $122,510.85andtoaddtothepatrolfleet. Thesevehicleswillbe
purchasedthroughstatecontract #9999-SPD-ES40199409-002. Additionally, theTahoeswillneedtobeequippedwithatechnologypackage. Thetechnologypackagecostswillbe11,446.00pervehicleforatotalcostof $34,338.00.
TheTahoeswillprovideavehicleplatformtoaccommodateofficerswhoarelargeinstature, aswellasprovideoff-roadcapabilitiesinthefield. TheTahoeswillalsoprovideincreasedcargocapabilities, allowingofficerstostorelargerequipmentforcriticalincidents.
IMPACTSTATEMENT

Therearecurrentlychaptersinelevenstates, includingGeorgia.
InJuneof 2012, anoff-dutyTeal sMillfirefighterwasinvolvedinahead-onmotorvehicleaccident. Boththefirefighterandhiswifewerepinnedinthevehicle. SinceTeal sMilldoesnothaveextricationequipment, theyhadtorequestaneighboringdepartmenttorespondtoextricateoneoftheirown.
CCFESwishestodonateonecompletesetofsurplusedHurstextricationequipment. Thisextricationequipmenthasreachedtheendofitsusefulservicelifeandwasalreadyscheduledforsurplussale. Theapproximatevalueofthisequipmentislessthan $1,500.00.
