What is an AED?

WHAT IS SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST?
,

Commotio Cordis

Commotio Cordis

ONCE THE HEART LOOSES ITS RHYTHM AND BEGINS TO “QUIVER” IT IS UNABLE TO PUMP
BLOOD TO THE BODY OR BRAIN.

It’s all about TIME…..
For every minute defibrillation is delayed, survival decreases by 7 to 10 percent.
If it’s delayed by more than 10 minutes, the chance of survival is less than 5 percent.

HOW DOES AN AED WORK?

Are AEDs Safe to Use?

AM I LIABLE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?
Three Levels of Protection1. Federal Cardiac Arrest Survival Act2. State Good Samaritan Law

CARDIAC ARREST SURVIVAL ACT: IMMUNITY FROM CIVIL LIABILITY (FEDERAL AED LAW)
…any person who uses or attempts to use an automated external defibrillator device on a victim of a perceived medical emergency, without objection of the victim, is immune from civil liability for any harm resulting from the use or attempted use of such device…
