The district maintains an assessment system to monitor and document results to improve student performance and school effectiveness.

Intervention: Assessment

1. The district implements a comprehensive assessment system.

A. ISTEP+ (State Standardized Test) is administered annually to grades 3-10.

B. Northwest Evaluation System (NWEA)-norm-referenced standardized test for individual student growth, including Lexiles, is administered in the fall and spring to grades 2-10.

C. Classroom Measures (Common Assessments)-STI Assessment will be used for formative benchmark testing in grades 3-12.

D. Core 40 Tests (Content State Tests)--Final Exams are administered at the end of every semester in the high school, as well as Algebra in 8th grade.

E. District-wide Writing Prompts are administered annually in grades 2-11.

F. Benchmark Reading Tests are administered during a given school year to elementary children in grades K-6.

G. Standards-based report cards are given in grades K-5.

H. Exit surveys are administered to graduates of the various levels (elementary, 8th, 12th, and former graduates) for school effectiveness.

Intervention: Data Analysis

1. The district maintains a data warehouse for systematic analysis of student assessment data.

A. The data warehouse is updated as test results are received.

B. School reports are disaggregated and generated in many views.

C. The district will use the Indiana Department of Education's web-based data warehouse (Accountability System for Academic Progress, ASAP) to compare local performance to state and comparable schools.

D. Professional Learning Communities review the data analysis results.

E. As a result of data analysis, instructional decisions and programs are implemented.

-Instructional decisions may include addressing gap analysis.

-Program implementation includes the following:

a. Focused Leveled Instructional Program-FLIP

b. Seminar

c. Essential Skills

d. G.T.

e. Summer School

f. Advanced Class Placement

g. Book Level Placement

h. Double-Blocking

i. Full-Day Kindergarten

F. The district will review the annual performance report to verify growth in student performance.

-Annual performance is presented publicly in a school board meeting, as well as publicized with the local media.

Intervention: Profile

1. The district maintains a Profile that uses comparison and trend data of Student Characteristics, Student Performance, School Effectiveness, and School and Community Contexts.

A. Data is continuously updated and analyzed for performance and growth.

-The Central Office assists the NCA Leadership Teams on data extraction from the data warehouse.

-The Business Manager has designed data templates in Excel for data input.Example: ISTEP

-Data templates are populated with current data and imported into the NSSE School Improvement Planning Web-based Tool.

-Data analysis is performed by the Professional Learning Communities.

-Targeted areas of performance are identified.

-Action plans are reviewed to include any areas that are targeted and not previously addressed.

B. The Profile is published via the Web site and hard copies at the Central Office, as well as each school for public review and comments.

Intervention: Student Record System

1. The district maintains a secure and accurate student record system that is in accordance with state and federal regulations.

A. STI is implemented district-wide.

B. STI includes the following:

- Student Records (Academic, Health, Discipline, Attendance, Guidance)

- STI Classroom (Teacher Gradebook)

- STI Home (Parent Portal-Online access for parents to review STI records)

-STI Caller (Outbound calling feature to announce events by phone)

-STI Assessment

2. The district maintains cumulative student records in a secure area of each building.

A. Records will be electronically archived.
