Next year promises to be an exciting year with new teachers, more activities and a renewed sense of self as a school culture and community. Our priority next year is to create classrooms that provide a rich language (French and English) environment with a focus on critical thinking and inquiry. We will do this through high, non-negotiable expectations for oral French, through the use of rich informative text in French and in English and through engaging and chal- lenging numeracy activities. The students and staff of ESAI would like to say

farewell to M Gaudreau as he takes his retirement.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to

    ESAI.

We wish you all the best in your upcoming adven-

    tures!

Although the school year is coming to an end, we are now more busy then ever

with evaluations of students reading levels, report cards, end of year field trips,

sporting events, etc. We had a wonderful time at the Grade 5/6 camp. The stu-

duce our students to the fabulous activities we can have in the winter, especial-

    ly ice fishing!

The renovations on our library will start next week. The library will be closed

  • Reminders School Hours

    Student Entry: 8:35a.m.

    Lunch: 11:30a.m. - 12:25p.m.

    Student Dismissal: 3:15p.m.

    Student Absences

If your child(ren) will be absent, we ask that you please call the school by 9:15am. If you do not let us know why your child(ren) are absent, we must call you to verify the absence.

Please note: If your child is a bussed student, you must also call the Transportation Department to let them know your child will not be on the bus that morning.

Please remind your child(ren) that if they come in late, they must report to the office to let the secretary know, and for a late slip. Otherwise, the office will not know when they have arrived, and they will be marked as absent.

Some students in our school have allergies. In any class-room there are occasions where food may be present (ie: class parties, science experiments, TUSC, etc.) Please be mindful that allergens (tree nuts, strawberries, eggs, gluten, shellfish) may cause severe reactions and may be life-threatening to some. Please check at the office or with your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any doubts or questions regarding food that is brought to school. Please refrain from wearing any scented products while at ESAI. Thank you for your consideration in this mat-ter.

We are a nut safe and scent free school!!!

All visitors are to report to the main office

All visitors, including parents, must report to the main office upon entering the school. If you are dropping something off for your child, please leave it at the office and we will make sure he/she gets it. If you are coming to pick up your child(ren), please report to the office, and we will call your child(ren) down. You must sign your child(ren) out.

    Arrival

Students walking or being dropped off at school are re-minded the classrooms open at 8:35am. If you arrive early, please remain outside until the 8:35am bell rings.

    Medication Notice

If your child requires medication, which is to be adminis-tered to the child during the school day, please contact the office for procedure and paperwork.

All medication must be kept at the office in the original packaging.

    Clothing

Spring has arrived! And so have the puddles. Parents, please send an extra set of clothing to school with your child in case they get wet! An extra set of clothes (pants, shirt, socks, etc), always helps us out!

We are unable to dry any clothing that may get wet during the day.

    Transportation 204-422-6222

    Change of Drop-Off:

If your child needs to be dropped off at another location, the Transportation Department requires written notice 24 hours in advance.

Picking up your bussed child from school:

If your child is a bussed student, and you will be picking him/her up, you must send a note to the school office and call Transportation, or call us by 2:45pm or earlier. The office gets very busy at the end of the day and it is difficult to inform all necessary parties on time if we get calls at the end of the day.

    Sporting Events:

Similarly with sporting/after school events, if there is a game/activity after school, students need to pre-arrange with school/parents about staying after school. Student phone calls on the day of these events for this purpose will not be permitted.

    ESAI School Website

    To access our website, visit

    https://www.srsd.ca/school/SAI/Pages/default.aspx for

all current information on school events, concerts,

fundraisers, etc. Our website is a great way of keeping

up-to-date on everything that is happening at ESAI.

    Please read

Should your child/children be going home with another student/parent, a phone call must be made to the school to let us know of that change. Students will not be allowed to leave the school premises until such time that we have received a call. Thank you for your coop-eration!

  • End of Year Reminders

medication and or an Epi-Pen, please arrange to have it picked up by the last day of school (June 27).

The child will present this ticket to the student helper in the foyer during lunch time as part of the milk program. Thank you!

    2019-2020 School Supplies

For the upcoming school year, all school supplies for the Kindergarten to Grade 3 students will be

supplied by the school. This change was supported by our Parent Advisory Council. A small fee will

be required from all students in September to cover the cost, likely around $30.00.

All Grade 4 to Grade 8 students will still be asked to purchase their school supplies. We will survey

those parents to see if they would be interested in this idea.

    Congratulations Career Trekkers!

Congratulations to Heath and Maximus on their Career Trek Gradua-

tion! These boys gave up most of their Saturdays over the course of the

school year to learn about different careers at the various university and

college campuses in the city. It took a lot of hard work and commitment

and we’re so proud of them!

An extra special congratulations to Heath, who was the recipient of this years “Love of Learning” award which is given to the participant that

demonstrated exceptional growth, both personally and educationally during their time at Career Trek.

  • Dress Code

Students are expected to dress appropriately for school. Clothing should allow students to actively participate in all daily activities without risk of inappropriate exposure. Muscle

shirts, short shorts that expose the buttocks, tube tops, beach wear and any questionable or offensive attire will not be permitted on school premises. Clothing that exposes a student’s midriff is also not permitted at school.

Students will be asked to cover any inappropriate clothing (eg. With a sweater) or asked to change or turn the

garment inside out. During Physical Education classes, students must wear appropriate athletic clothing. Ex. Spandex volleyball shorts, 2 finger straps (no under garments showing). Students cannot wear clothing that will inhibit them from performing the activities in the gym. Students must bring their Physical Education

    clothing home to wash regularly.

Would you like to be a Roots of Empathy family?

Roots of Empathy is a program where students learn about empathy by watching a baby during its first year of life. ESAI is looking for next year’s baby! If you are expecting between May and August of 2019 and are in-terested in learning more about the program, please contact Kelly Burtnyk at [email protected] or call the school at 204-422-8762. Please note that the program requires the parent and baby to visit the classroom once a month during the school year.
