The DPoA
• A road map for accelerated implementation of the AYC
• Intends to ensure a mechanism of benchmark hence the surveys
• Inline with “Africa delivers as one ” theme• Year 2009 – 2018 declared as the decade for
youth (2008) • Endorsed by AU Heads of State – Malabo

Why the surveys?
• Several decision bearing on youth adopted at AU assemblies – not effectively implemented
• AUC-HR&YD to address weak institutional and technical capacities
• To inculcate a principle of ownership by M/S• DPoA target – enhance the capacity of Youth
Ministries to IMPLEMENT, MONITOR, EVALUATE & REPORT on youth devt initiatives

• Objective – mapping of existing frameworks at REC’s level for possible synergies with nationals
• Leveraging the convening power at REC’s as a building block for enforcement and accountability
