    Information Literacy Programs for new inducted FACULTY &

    STUDENTS

    To give awareness about library resources and services to new inducted faculty members and

    students, library professional (services) plan to organize:

    Orientation sessions in Library Library help desk @ Departments Organized library survey with faculty members Liaison with Departments

    To gain the targets of information awareness, above mentioned activities were started with the

    commencement of the semester on February 10, 2014. Information specialists includes Naveed

    Siddique, Information Specialist for Chemical Engineering and Research, Nasira Munir, Information

    specialist for Electrical & Computer Engineering and Aiman Shahnawaz, Information Specialist for

    Management Sciences and Architecture & Design were started the activities under cover

    Information Literacy Program.

    The purposes of above mentioned activities are:

    To educate new student about library CIIT Lahore To give awareness to new library users about their library rights To know the information and knowledge needs of CIIT Lahore faculty members To market library resources and services among faculty members and researchers To create communications channels between department and library

    With proper planning and strategy, Information specialist developedbrochures, leaflets and flexes

    to give awareness and knowledge about library services. Librarians visited their respective

    departments and established their desks with the help of departmental staff. Information Specialists

    guided all the students specially the new comers about the library, library rules and its services.

    Library staff holds the help desk and displayed the flexes containing LIS services to attract the

    students towards LIS desk. Information specialist hooks up with students to inform them about their

    library registration and other services and library rules. They also listened to the old students queries

    and tried to manage them at the spot, rest were guided towards the LIS department.

    To connect with faculty, library professionals visited faculty members in their departments and

    faculty offices in faculty block. Library staff delivered the feedback forms to the faculty members to

    know their views about LIS and their research needs. In general, faculty members were asked about

    the proficiency of Library Information Services. Library staff also offered different services to all

    faculties which was not availing them before, like training for us e of TURNITINand VPN. Library

    professionals encouraged them to share their views about LIS department, services and complaints.

    The response from Faculty was very good regarding all the activities of Information Literacy

    Program. The motivation level of the library professional grew up after visiting them. They shared

    their views, experiences and suggestions with information specialists. Library staff tried to solve

    some of their issues at the spot. Library has received many filled up feedback forms. These healthy

    signs show that faculty will cooperate with library to make Information specialist services

    successful in future.
