ActionLine…Your Board Meeting Update March 18, 2015 Staff assignments approved During the March 17 Board meeting, Aldine ISD Trustees approved three staff assignments. Raymond Stubblefield was named principal of Smith Academy after serving as principal at Stephens Elementary School. He received his bachelor’s degree in government with a minor in history in 1988 from San Angelo State University. In 1999, he earned his master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Houston. He is certified for this position. He began his teaching career in 1988 as a social studies teacher at Christian Academy in Guatemala. In 1990, he moved to Aldine ISD to teach social studies at Stovall Middle School. He transferred to Escamilla Intermediate School in 1993 and in 1994, he was named an assistant principal at Johnson Elementary School. In 1995, he was named an assistant principal at Parker Intermediate School. In 1996, he was named the district’s elementary program director for social studies. In 1999, he moved to MacArthur Ninth Grade School to serve as the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction and in 2003 he was named principal of Mendel Elementary School before being named principal of Stephens Elementary School in 2005. Stubblefield has 26 years of experience in the field of education and he has spent 24 of those years with Aldine ISD. Gideon Schleeter was named assistant principal at Eisenhower Ninth Grade School after serving as an associate principal at Spring High School. Schleeter received his bachelor’s degree in education in 2008 from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He earned his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2012 from the University of St. Thomas. He is certified for this position. He began his teaching career in 2008 as a science teacher at Stovall Middle School. He was promoted to assistant principal in 2011 at that same school. In 2013, he transferred to his current position as associate principal for curriculum and instruction at Spring High School in Spring ISD. Schleeter has six years of experience in the field of education and he has spent three of those years with Aldine ISD. Kelvin Jefferson was named an assistant principal at Hoffman Middle School after serving as an assistant principal at Abraham Lincoln Middle School in Port Arthur ISD. Jefferson received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2000 from Prairie View A&M University. He earned his master’s degree in educational administration from that same university in 2004. He is certified for this position. He began his teaching career in 2003 as a teacher with LaMarque ISD. He moved to Galveston ISD in 2003 to serve as a teacher and coach. In 2009, he relocated to Clarksville ISD to become an assistant principal before assuming his current role as an assistant principal at Abraham Lincoln Middle School in Port Arthur ISD. Jefferson has 15 years of experience in the field of education.

Employees recognized During the March 17 Board meeting, a number of employees were honored for the contributions they make to Aldine ISD on a daily basis.

Robin DeRouen, executive director of transportation, named Maria Fuentes her department’s Employee of the Month. Fuentes works at the East side transportation department as a bus driver.

Emitte Roque, executive director of buildings and properties, named Dunn Elementary School as his department’s Building of the Month. On hand to accept the award were head custodian Martha Leal and principal Terrie Sanchez.

Roque named Plummer Middle School as his department’s Yard of the Month. On hand to accept the award was head custodian Reina Guardado, yardman Jose Serrano and principal Andrea Cain.

Dani Sheffield, executive director of child nutrition services, named the cafeteria staff at Garcia-Leza EC/Pre-K School as her department’s Team of the Month. The team consists of manager Cecilia Burciaga, and specialists Jackelin Barcenas, Guillermina Gonzalez, Margaret Jarmon, Veronica Reyes, Nora Rodriguez, and Darlene Selders. The CN supervisor is Sal Jessa and the principal is Juan Santos.

Summer work schedule approved During the March 17 Board meeting, Trustees approved the summer work schedule for district employees. The summer work schedule will begin on Monday, June 8. All employees will work from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. An exception to this will be the police department and central receiving which will operate on a skeleton crew. The Fourth of July falls on Friday. Employees will work from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, that week. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Aug. 10. Grants announced During the March 17 Board meeting, Stacey Smith, program director of resource development, announced three grants. Conley Elementary School teacher Ericka Kelley secured a grant from Donors Choose to provide materials for an independent reading area at her school. Raymond Academy teacher Kristian Kirkwood secured a grant from Donors Choose to fund a program for his classroom. Dunn Elementary teacher Krystle Harvey secured a grant from Donors Choose to purchase materials for her “Speed Stacking Club” at Dunn. The three grants totaled $2,535. Program presented During the March 17 Board meeting, Gloria Cavazos, assistant superintendent of human resources, and her directors presented the program. They discussed the recruiting process of teachers and provided the audience with a video that the department uses when recruiting new teachers.
