Just a warning: these are USER recommendations explicitly stated tested these things ourselves, so do your own testing first. For instance, make website backups before testing new plugins and modifying website settings, etc. The tips shown here are not necessarily the winning tips, as the contest is still running. The winners will be announced during the Refinery.

Most of the best known sites (like ShutterStock, etc.) charge fees to download their photos, and some even restrict downloaders from using the photos for "commercial purposes" -- which is exactly what we are doing when we use these photos in our ads. I've done research to find many FREE high-resolution photo downloading sites for 100K members to be able to get high-quality images for their FB ads, for their websites, etc. These sites all offer FREE images, and they allow commercial use of

Automatically Check AliExpress For Price Updates By Tim

site) of products I'm selling, I use a 'web page change detector' service. The one I've found works best is https://www.followthatpage.com/ which has a free account that lets you monitor up to 20 pages once a day and emails you if there are changes. A paid account is available for more (and that's only $20 per year). You will need to make sure you filter what you're monitoring on the page otherwise it picks up anything that changes such as ratings and review counts. What I do is set the block I'm monitoring to start with 'Price:' and end with 'Shipping:' so that it just monitors the pricing bit of the web page. Works great for

The Routine So Far (0:15:13, Revisions 0:17:00) Every day or just weekdays:

Check on sites Process orders

Move money from Paypal to bank to cover bills Every 4 days:

Evaluate ALL running ads

Scale up, scale back, or kill Create on new adset targeting one of the lookalike audiences from

your portfolio of 12 Once per week:

Try out one new audience for an existing product

Page 6: Action Items for this Week - Amazon S3...Retargeting Campaigns (0:18:44) Last week we created custom audiences and lookalike audiences. You will continue this practice for most of

Try out one new product for your niche site (NEW!) Add one re-targeting adset for

one yet (but still has ads running for it) evaluate this every four days just like all other ads

Check for enough data to build the 3 lookalike audiences until all 3 are built (this will result in 12 total lookalike audiences)

Once per month:

Calculate gross profit margin

Calculate net profit

You have your niche site, with 2-5 products Each product has one successful ad (or 2 ads, if you are split-testing)

which is (are) running for an audience Each product will eventually run ads (the same ones as above) to

lookalike audiences All ads are constantly under review You are constantly expanding audiences and products

Retargeting Campaigns (0:18:44) Last week we created custom audiences and lookalike audiences. You will continue this practice for most of your ad campaigns with more granular tweaking. This week, we will put together retargeting ad campaigns for specific products. So, what is retargeting? It is the practice of reminding previous site visitors that they were interested in a product, or perhaps left it in the cart and did

Page 7: Action Items for this Week - Amazon S3...Retargeting Campaigns (0:18:44) Last week we created custom audiences and lookalike audiences. You will continue this practice for most of

How do we do this? We can create a custom audience of visitors that came to a specific web page (your product page) but who did not purchase. Just copy and paste the product page URL in the Create Audience section of

telling Facebook to create a custom audience of visitors who have visited this page. Then, add the exclusion URL of the thank you page (because it shows that this

Example: Say we are selling a robot dinosaur toy. 100 visitors visit this page, and because of the Facebook tracking pixel on your website, Facebook records the demographics off all 100 visitors. 5 out of these 100 visitors go on to buy the product, and the Facebook pixel records these visitors going to your thank you page, meaning that they indeed purchased the item. That means, we have 95 visitors who did not purchase, and we create a new custom audience of these visitors. We can then send this new custom audience a specific ad with the product, and perhaps a coupon encouraging them to return to complete their purchase.

Create your ad like this:

Show the original ad to remind them that they did see and clicked on it, and modify it with (perhaps) another image of it, plus some text encouraging them

oupon, a lower price, free shipping, etc. There is an old marketing axiom that you need to send a customer the same message three times before they buy. This is absolutely true for retargeting!

Remember: When creating these new retargeting ads, treat them just as any other ad when it comes to the routine (scaling up, scaling down, killing them, evaluating every 4 days, etc)

Facebook Ad Data (0:26:38)

for a while now, you will have been building up this amazing amount of powerful and valuable data about your audience. The data shows who is clicking and who is buying, as well as:

The average age of your buyer

The gender What ad types does your target audience respond to? (Certain colors,

arrows, etc) The devices your clickers and buyers mainly use (desktop, mobile)

What should you use this data for?

Page 11: Action Items for this Week - Amazon S3...Retargeting Campaigns (0:18:44) Last week we created custom audiences and lookalike audiences. You will continue this practice for most of

You can examine the best performing ads with the highest CTR and/or the highest conversion rates

You can examine demographic data such as age and gender You can examine the device type data

You can see the common themes among ad designs

example, a woman, aged 35-55, using a mobile device, who responds best to red arrows in the ad.

To find these demographics, go to your ad manager and look for the Breakdown button from here you can view your audience data: We also discussed how to find and customize this data in Session 6, around the 22 minute mark. What questions can we ponder about this data?

What products are these audience and demographics into?

What are they buying, needing and wanting? Where do they typically live? (You can pinpoint to the exact city or

even neighborhood where a majority of your audience comes from!) From knowing this data, you can anticipate what new products to try. Simply Google your successful product and see what similar products may work.

We felt these were the best interests to target:

What we learned:

Women 25-34 and 35-44 were the main Clickers for the campaign

Women 18-24 are not big spenders Mo

What can you do with this data? There are a lot of creative uses for this data. Here are a couple options:

We can also run 2 ad sets at the dif - -

We can ust w

We can test the same product at the same interest/audience We can nd test the new

product with these demographics and a similar ad to the winning ad

Incorporating Facebook Ad Data into the Routine (0:41:33) In the Routine, every week you are expanding and trying out new audiences, as well as testing a new product. This is a perfect time to use the FB ad data you have at your disposal to help fine-tune your expansion. For instance, when testing a new audience, create this using the FB ad data demographics. What are the winning demographics? What new product can you test based on the winning data? When expanding your audience, you can either use a brand new audience, or use the same audience but fine-tune it to target only the winning demographics to create a new ad (for instance, the same interests, but only women aged 35-44, if this is the winning demographics). When finding a new product, go to Google (or Amazon, or somewhere else) to find a similar product that you think would fit the winning demographic. For example, the booklight product we showed above is a winner, and we know the demographic information about it. Knowing this, we can type this product into Amazon and look at the Customers who bought this also bought this to see if you can sell that product to the same winning audience as well. Similar to Amazon, Google also lists related search terms for products. Explore this to find new product ideas.

FB Page Management As your company grows, you will be getting more traffic, Likes, interaction, etc it is an extension of your company and brand. For better or for worse, it needs to be monitored very carefully mainly for spam and negative comments.

There are ways to automate a lot of this monitoring, such as automatic responses and spam filtering.

We will do some videos on how to automate some of these functions, such as auto responding to messages:

Setting up an 800 Number A 1-800 number shows the professionalism of your business. Use this number on Paypal, your website, and your marketing material. Set it to just receive calls to voicemail, and you can also have messages transcribed and emailed straight to you. We highly recommend using Grasshopper.com - http://grasshopper.com/

Paypal Disputes Yup, it happens. As your business grows, you will likely get some Paypal disputes. Have all your email from Paypal set to your support@ email and forwarded to your help desk. A dispute doesn t mean you re in trouble, it could just be simple questions a lot of customers don t remember where they bought their items, but do remember that they used Paypal. A lot of times they will just ask Where s my stuff? Most customers just want you to know you are there. For Paypal disputes, you must resolve them IMMEDIATELY.

Tales from Our Facebook Group and

(0:59:36) Brent often has quick sessions on our Facebook group where he ll be online and offers advice to questions members have. Here are a couple valuable conversions this week:

Cake Tools Linda posted a particular product, and asked how to target this she had a great click-through rate but no sales:

Brent offered her some suggestions, and she received a sale within 24 hours when she implemented it.

Brent felt it was the audience, and offered some different interests to target: Cake decorating (bakers, wedding cake designers, hobby cake makers, Celebrity cake decorators, cake TV shows, websites, brands ) Corn Stripper

Very similar problem, where the product ad had a high CTR but no sales. Brent suggested targeting a different audience: Gadget enthusiast, who must also like one of BBQ, corn on the cob or smoking (cooking) A customer then bought 8 of them within 24 hours of the change!

Corset

A third similar example, where Brent had Kelly change the audience interests

she also received 2 sales

What Brent means by BIG SMALL overlap is to have a BIG interest (Corset), as well as liking at least one SMALL interest (true corset, corsets-uk, corset [note the small c], Timeless Trends Corsets, Gothic Culture, etc)

Example of Not So Good Targeting: Titanic Necklace & Earrings

This ad has a high click through rate but no sales the reason turns out to be very strange targeting: Demographic targeting:

must be women and in a relationship (engaged, in a relationship or unspecified )

MUST also like Titanic (1997 film)

AND MUST also like: Clock

AND MUST also like: Miller Lite

A very strange audience combination, for sure! (Why Clock and Miller Lite?) We have actually had quite a few of these strange audience targets from students, so remember, check your audience targeting if you are not making sales. Here are some trouble areas we see, and how to correct them:

Page 29: Action Items for this Week - Amazon S3...Retargeting Campaigns (0:18:44) Last week we created custom audiences and lookalike audiences. You will continue this practice for most of

Be VERY specific with your targeting

over do your targeting (see example of the Titanic Necklace above)

products - use the PAN Criteria

Make sure your ads are clean and clear, not some weird combination of white and grey boxes

Use HOTJAR.com to see what Your Customers are doing on your site Focus on a few niches at a time (when starting out) - understand your

data

Run your ads for a full 1000 impressions Use GOOGLE more often for example, don t struggle with trying to

find tea brands for your audience targets just do a search on Google to see what the big tea brands are, then type them into Facebook!

Make sure there are no technical issues with your site that is causing lost sales
