FOCUS ON FAITH ndash Movie Night
RAC Liz Ingram President One season is ending but planning for next year has already begun RAC has been busy developing the 2018-2019
activity calendar and there are some new events and changes that you might like to know about
Sunday November 18 2018 ndash The bus will take us to the 32nd Annual American Sand Sculpting Competition on Fort
Myers Beach Yoursquoll be amazed at the talent and imagination of these world class sand sculptors Food vans craft
vendors live music shaded seating and sand sculpting demonstrations continue throughout the day The back deck
of the Wyndham (formerly the Holiday Inn) has a full menu and bar Bus leaves the clubhouse at noon returning
about 5 pm Cost is $12 per person
Thursday Nov 22 2018 ndash Thanksgiving Potluck RAC will provide the meat but we need volunteers to help host set
up and clean up Bring your family and a generous dish to pass Letrsquos make this an Oak Park Family affair
Saturday December 1 2018 ndash Back in the dayhellipthink Gene Thornberghellipwe had a Pig in a Poke auction We are
going to try that again as a fundraiser and fun event So let me explain A ldquoPig in a Pokerdquo is a very old saying that you
are buying something that you donrsquot know what it is It may be valuable or not The fun comes from watching the
buyer open his bag to discover what unique crazy and unexpected item heshe now owns Think of the singing Billy
BasshellipNaomirsquos voluptuous fake boob costumehellipor maybe tickets to an Everblades hockey game Let your
imagination go wild Plans arenrsquot definite yet but this event would take the place of the traditional Lighting of the
Tree Suggestions are welcomed and volunteers are needed Keep your eye out as you browse yard sales this
summer for that Special item that would make a hit in Oak Park If this event is successful re-gifting the following
year would definitely be allowed
Wednesday December 12 2018 ndash RAC Trip to Fishermanrsquos Village and Kingfisher Fleet Christmas Canal Cruise ndash Bus

most of that day in the clubhouse kitchen away from family and friends helping to prepare a meal for an increasingly
smaller number of people This year we have moved the potluck date back to the Thursday before the Christmas
Holiday Again RAC will provide the meat but again we need several volunteers to help with set up serving and
clean-up
Monday December 24 2018 ndash Caroling with Jerry and Golf Cart Decorating Contest - Put your Santa Hats on and
think up seasonal themes to decorate your carts Woody and I made our golf cart into a snowplow one year
complete with fake snow You have all summer to come up with ideashellipso againhelliplet your imagination run wild
Saturday March 2 2019 ndash Mardi Gras Decorated Golf Cart Parade and Party ndash Buy beads and cart decorations this
summer Green Gold and Purple are the traditional colors of Mardi Gras

of tea cups Details are still in the making but it has been suggested that each guest bring a bottle of wine sparkling
juice or beer RAC will provide a punch or similar and 5-7 tapas choices If you would like to sign up for a table and be
involved in the planning please contact me by email Dawn Cherney is the contact person for the Fashion Show and
