Achievements and
Celebrations End of Autumn Term 2017
Earlier this term, we were delighted to
welcome back Chris Harvey to open our
new, Oasis Day Nursery provision. Those
who have visited all agree it is a great
addition to our facility. We are also
delighted with the work of Exeter College
in transforming the old building. It is
progressing excellently.
Sycamore Class have been busy learning outside this term! A group
of children have had six sessions of Forest School and have enjoyed
building dens, hiding animals and creating natural art. Wednesday
Welly Walks have been a huge hit and we have all enjoyed getting
out in the school grounds on Wednesday mornings wearing our
wellies! Next term Wednesday Welly Walks will continue and a
different group of children will be offered the Forest School
experience.
Here are a couple of
pictures from

great to have so
many parents
attend the session!

year so far.
KS1 welcomed parents, friends and family to their exhibition where work from across the
term was displayed. They were able to proudly show this off to their visitors. They also
performed an excellent production linking with their topic of the history of Exeter.

28 of the year 4 children had a great morning improving their tennis skills at the Exeter Tennis Centre with other schools from across Exeter. The cross country run at Killerton was a great day for our runners! The weather was beautiful (for a change!) and we saw some great individual performances. Well done to all who took part in these events.
How to make rainbow slime
By Kristina Kurilec 3N
Have you ever wanted slime with glitter? Why not make your own by following these simple steps.
First, get a big bowl Next, slowly pour all the pva glue in the big bowl. After that, carefully spray all the shaving cream on top of the pva glue. Overnight put your unfinished slime into the fridge In the morning take your frozen slime out of the fridge. Then pour all your coloured food colouring into the bowl. Finally tip all your glitter on top of the slime and mix it very gently. Now you have followed these simple steps take your slime out of the bowl and enjoy playing with it!

3M enjoyed
making 3-D shapes
by folding paper.
They then coloured
them and used
their creations to
decorate the
Christmas tree!
Great work 3M!
Year 3 and 4 have been very busy practising
their singing, dancing and acting for their
Christmas play. For those of you who had the
pleasure of watching it, we are sure you will
have been particularly impressed by some of
the acting and the sheer number of
words that the children have had to
learn for some of the songs. Well Well
done Year 3 and 4!

Leg-it to Lapland We have been competing in the 'Leg it to Lapland' initiative to get more children walking, cycling and scooting to school. The children have embraced this and we have had so many more scooters and bikes in the sheds! Some were lucky enough to find a golden ticket on their bike or scooter! We have also enjoyed using the turbo bike to clock up some extra miles. Our PE ambassadors have done a great job collecting the data for this.
Explanatory writing – Jaylin Sprague
Jaylin has been writing an explanatory text about living near a
volcano. As you can see, she has used lots of different technical
vocabulary and the text is really well structured. This is just one
paragraph.
One benefit of living near a volcano is the geothermal energy
which can be used to create electricity. Geothermal energy comes
from magma that creates heat. This heat is used to produce steam
which turns the turbines in the power station. Consequently, this
means that there is no pollution from the power stations and the
air is much cleaner.
Well done to Kristian Clarke in 6BH for winning
the silver medal in the boys’ Year 5/6 category
at the Killerton Cross Country!
Christmas Craft morning
was a great success. The
children all enjoyed making
various Christmas-related
crafts in their house teams.
Thanks to all the parents
who came along and
joined in the fun too!
