ABSTRACT The Effectiveeness of Giving Warm Compress As Alternative of Nursing Intervention to Decrease Pain Phlebitis Intensity in Anyelir and Asoka Rooms of RSUD Dr. R. Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Bojonegoro. By : Lucky Hermawan S Phlebitis is the inflammation of vein wall, and it can be felt by pain, redness and happened is local swelling. Phlebitis can be treated by pharmacological and non- pharmacological therapy. Non-pharmacological therapy can be done by giving a warm compress. Warm compress was a treatment have reduced a pain by giving heat energy through conduction process, where that’s heat can cause vasodilation (widening of blood vessel) so that it could be increasing the oxygen intake, nutrition and blood leukocytes leading to the tissues of body. The research is to know the effectiveness of giving warm compress to reduce pain phlebitis in Anyelir and Asoka rooms of RSUD Dr. R. Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Bojonegoro. This research is a quantitative pre-exsperimental using sampling techniques consecutive sampling. The Population in this research is patients who get phlebitis in Anyelir and Asoka rooms of RSUD Dr. R. Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Bojonegoro in 2014, and the total subjects in this research are 32 people. With the method Pra Eksperimental One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The way of taking the data is use pre-post experimental method and by doing interview to know the analysis of pain scale, then it is analyzed by Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Based on the result of the research it can be seen that before giving warm compress majority of respondent suffering moderate pain which is 24 respondent (75,0 %), after giving warm compress almost of respondent experienced a mild pain is 22 respondent (68,8 %). There is an influence of pain intensity before and after having warm compress with Asym. Sig. (2-Tail) = 0,000 and Z = -4,817 a where p 0,05 so, H1 is accepted. It means that warm compress is influential and effective to reduce pain intensity in patients with phlebitis. From this research, we can conclude that warm compress can be applied to patients in with phlebitis in pain handling

Phlebitis is the inflammation of vein wall, and it can be felt by pain, redness and happened is local swelling. Phlebitis can be treated by pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy.

Sig. (2-Tail) = 0,000 and Z = -4,817a where p 0,05 so, H1 is accepted. It means that warm compress is influential and effective to reduce pain intensity in patients with phlebitis.

From this research, we can conclude that warm compress can be applied to patients in with phlebitis in pain handling in Anyelir and Asoka room at RSUD Dr. R. Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Bojonegoro. Considering that giving a warm compress is cheap, easy to implement and without side effect.

Key words : Warm Compress, Pain Intensity
