Every speaker merits high laudatory comments, but the space constraints of R&D Express make a full account impossible. I will cover in detail only one of them that was perhaps the most discussed of all: a presentation by Valery Bo- ronin and Vera Trubacheva, who staged a mock trial of DLP 1.0 (video). Also starring in this performance were Ivan Manuylov, who played the judge, and Stitch from the movie with the cute alien (I'm sure you can guess). :) As Valery Boronin confided in me after the event, the main objective of the act was to make people understand that "there is an enormous gap between technologies and real life, and products do not factor in the human error phenomenon, and without it the protection doesn‘t make sense". Because of the time limit on the presentations, our DLPR was able to cover only one element of Data Luxury Protectionpeople. But that was worth it: the trial was very illustrative. But who came up with the idea of staging a performance at a business conference? This is what Vera Trubacheva had to say on the subject: "It was very important for us to make the performance unforgettable and convey a complex problem in simple terms. In addition to the court scenario, we also considered a restau- rant scenario (how they cook "user awareness" - we expected to appear on- stage dressed up as chefs), or a day in the life of an officer (the presentation is conveyed via dialogs between an officer with different people). We thought the court scenario was the most spectacular of all, so we chose it eventually. Judg- ing by the feedback from summit participants, we succeeded in our goal of ex- plaining how important it is to raise user awareness and how to accomplish this". According to many, it was an amazing event. Let us ask the chief mastermind behind Security Analyst Summit – Sergey Novikov – as to whether the goals have been achieved. "Of course they have been achieved. The summit is obvi- ously growing: both in terms of the level of guest speakers and the reports themselves. Still, there is a lot of room for improvement, and we know that we can make our conference even better next year. Moreover, many summit par- ticipants (both external experts and our employees) have ranked Kaspersky Security Analyst Summit alongside such major industrial conferences as Virus Bulletin, AVAR, Black Hat, and others. Many even rated our summit higher in terms of organization and content. We received excellent feedback: from top managers, external experts, journalist, and many employees of ours. All partici- pants and sponsors are very pleased with the conference and look forward to joining us next year". For that matter, the summit was not restricted to a business program. It includ- ed a trip to Chichen Itza and Maya jungle, the city of Coba and various forms of entertainment. But let us leave this out of the picture for now, until next time. :) R&D Express Issue 23 (28.02.2012)

Page 1: About my performance at Security Analyst Summit in Mexico from RnD Express

Every speaker merits high laudatory comments, but the space constraints of

R&D Express make a full account impossible. I will cover in detail only one of

them that was perhaps the most discussed of all: a presentation by Valery Bo-

ronin and Vera Trubacheva, who staged a mock trial of DLP 1.0 (video). Also

starring in this performance were Ivan Manuylov, who played the judge, and

Stitch from the movie with the cute alien (I'm sure you can guess). :) As Valery

Boronin confided in me after the event, the main objective of the act was to

make people understand that "there is an enormous gap between technologies

and real life, and products do not factor in the human error phenomenon, and

without it the protection doesn‘t make sense". Because of the time limit on the

presentations, our DLPR was able to cover only one element of Data Luxury

Protection—people. But that was worth it: the trial was very illustrative. But who

came up with the idea of staging a performance at a business conference?

This is what Vera Trubacheva had to say on the subject: "It was very important

for us to make the performance unforgettable and convey a complex problem

in simple terms. In addition to the court scenario, we also considered a restau-

rant scenario (how they cook "user awareness" - we expected to appear on-

stage dressed up as chefs), or a day in the life of an officer (the presentation is

conveyed via dialogs between an officer with different people). We thought the

court scenario was the most spectacular of all, so we chose it eventually. Judg-

ing by the feedback from summit participants, we succeeded in our goal of ex-

plaining how important it is to raise user awareness and how to accomplish

this".

According to many, it was an amazing event. Let us ask the chief mastermind

behind Security Analyst Summit – Sergey Novikov – as to whether the goals

have been achieved. "Of course they have been achieved. The summit is obvi-

ously growing: both in terms of the level of guest speakers and the reports

themselves. Still, there is a lot of room for improvement, and we know that we

can make our conference even better next year. Moreover, many summit par-

ticipants (both external experts and our employees) have ranked Kaspersky

Security Analyst Summit alongside such major industrial conferences as Virus

Bulletin, AVAR, Black Hat, and others. Many even rated our summit higher in

terms of organization and content. We received excellent feedback: from top

managers, external experts, journalist, and many employees of ours. All partici-

pants and sponsors are very pleased with the conference and look forward to

joining us next year".

For that matter, the summit was not restricted to a business program. It includ-

ed a trip to Chichen Itza and Maya jungle, the city of Coba and various forms of

entertainment. But let us leave this out of the picture for now, until next time. :)
