Instrumentation Limited (better known as IL) is a Government of India Enterprise set up in 1964 with the prime objective of attaining self reliance in the field of Control and Automation for process industry. Today IL is manufacturing and supplying state of the art control equipment on turnkey basis to various sector of Industry viz. Power, Steel, Fertilizer, Chemical, Petrochemical, Refineries, Pharmaceutical, Cement, Paper, Textile, Space, and Oil & Gas.
IL has its registered and corporate office at Kota in state of Rajasthan. Manufacturing facilities are based at Kota and Palakkad in Kerala State. Flow elements, control valve and actuators are manufactured at Palakkad plant and other items are manufactured at Kota plant. IL’s manufacturing facilities are accredited with ISO 9001:2008 certification. The marketing network is widely spread all over India having Branch offices in major cities of Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur and Secunderabad and Regional offices at Vadodara, Kolkata and Bhilai for organizing installation and commissioning and related services. The present product handling of the company comprises of sophisticated Digital Distributed Control systems, High Performance Smart Electronic Pressure and Temperature Transmitters, desk/panel mounted controllers, indicators, recorders and other hardware, liquid and gas analyzers, with sample handling and conditioning system, annunciation system, panels, instrument cabinet and racks, Flow elements, Control valves, actuators, power cylinders in addition to Telecommunication systems, IT based applications, Defence electronics, Railway signaling systems, Uninterrupted Power Supply Systems(UPS), Solar Dusk Dawn System(SDDS) etc.
IL, after establishing itself as an undisputed leader has crossed the Indian borders to supply equipment on turnkey basis in International markets. IL has supplied instrumentation on turnkey basis to two thermal power stations in Malaysia, supplied instrumentation to Esfahan steel plant in Iran, Hima cement plant in Uganda to name few. A major breakthrough was achieved in export market when IL received large orders from Lisichansk Oil Refinery in the erstwhile USSR for supply of DDC system and other equipment on turnkey basis.

This is the main area in which IL operates. The company was set up to meet the Control & Instrumentation requirement of Process industries of India. The company dedicates itself to this task with full sincerity to ensure rapid economic development of the country based on timely commissioning of various projects and satisfactory operation/ maintenance of already commissioned projects at a high level of efficiency, availability and plant utilization factor as far as the Control & Instrumentation is concerned.
IL’s Process control market can be segmented in to Industrial categories such as Power generation, especially Thermal Power Plants, Mining & Metallurgy including Iron & Steel production, Non-Ferrous metals like Aluminum and Copper / Zinc Smelter & Refineries, Petrochemicals including Oil & Gas Production, Chemicals including Pharmaceuticals & Water treatment plant, Cement, Paper, Fertilizers etc.
IL has been a saga of success through hard work, vibrant ethos and high level of team spirit. A strong turn-key capability has been established through expertise in System design, Engineering, software development, Manufacturing, Testing, Installation, Commissioning and after sales service.

Thermal Power Plants: IL is the only Indian company which has the privilege of supplying & executing C&I jobs on turn-key basis for thermal power units ranging from 30 MW to 500 MW through out the country and overseas. IL has also successfully executed the speedy ‘Restoration’ of the several units which were damaged due to some unfortunate incidents. Thus IL has proven capability of executing not only new Power Projects but also in upgrading of the old C&I system with the State-of-the-art technology. For the large projects IL has supplied DDC System of world-renowned manufacturers like ABB, Seimens, HF Controls, Emerson and Max Controls.
PADO (Performance Analysis, Diagnostics & Optimization software)
Instrumentation Limited (IL) has successfully diversified in the field of Latest software based packages for optimization of power plant for which PADO (Performance Analysis, Diagnostics & Optimization software) has been implemented in RRVUNL, 250 MW Unit No. #1 of Chabra Thermal Power project. Similar packages are already implemented in other units of RRVUINL.
PADO the Performance Analysis, Diagnostics & Optimization software is an online decision support system which is time tested and has been very widely deployed to maximize the energy efficiency during power generation. It has several modules each one of which contributes positively and in its own way in improving efficiency.
TRAINING SIMULATOR
Instrumentation Limited (IL) has also achieved mile stone in providing Training to Power Plant Operation plant for safe & efficient operation of Power Plants, for which Operator Training Simulator Systems are successfully installed at RRVUNL Kota & Suratgarh Thermal Power Stations.As per the study conducted by EPRI, USA benefits of Simulator training in terms of availability, thermal performance, component life and environment compliance savings, average Rs. 2.00 lakhs per MW per year. In the Indian context, for nearly 70,000 MW of Thermal Power, the annual savings would be Rs. 1400 Crores, presuming that the operational efficiencies of thermal Power Plants are as good as that in US.

Public Grievance SystemA formal Complaint / Grievance handling procedure for all individuals except (i) Employees (ii) Shareholders (iii) Vendors & (iv) Customers for whom a formal Grievance Redressal System already exists.
A "Grievance" for the purpose of this Scheme would mean, a cause of distress felt on account of being wronged, to form a reason for complaint, relating to any Individual / Group (other than those not covered under the Scheme), arising out of any decision taken by IL in relation to that Individual/Group.
Grievances that will not be taken up include :
Anonymous complaints / Frivolous cases / others in respect of which inadequate supporting details are provided.
Cases involving decisions/policy matters in which the aggrieved has not been affected directly/indirectly.
Cases where quasi judicial procedures are prescribed for deciding matters or cases that are sub-judice.
A grievance which has already been disposed of by the High - Powered Committee.
Complaints of corruption. These are to be lodged separately with the Vigilance Officer.

Instrumentation Limited also purchases Complete instruments, accessories as bought out items to meet its System requirements. Total Purchases made are worth Rs. 70.00 Crores. on a yearly basis. Suppliers for the required items are spread all over India and World. Instrumentation Limited is thus supported by strong supplier base, which is continually updated.
New suppliers and traders, Who are authorized representatives of the OEM, are being added to the list of existing suppliers to widen the supplier base and to ensure procurement of quality material at competitive prices.

Orders in Pipeline
STEEL PROJECTS:
In Steel Sector, the horizon of work area had been widened by booking orders having process piping/equipment work alongwith traditional C&I work. This is being achieved in association with Business Associates and orders were booked for On-line Ladle Purging system at Durgapur Steel Plant, for Gas Mixing Stations at VSP, JSW Bellary and SAIL IISCO Steel Plant – Burnpur. The order was also received for replacement of Askanish Hydraulic The Hydraulic controller with new compact hydraulic controller.
We have also booked the order for Stove Up-gradation for BF#5, Bokaro Steel Plant & Replacement of PLC for Bottom charging & BLT. These were shut down jobs and show the trust reposed in us by M/s SAIL. This project has been commissioned in the month of April, 2012 and is under observation.
Presently various R&M jobs are in pipe-line in Steel sector which include C&I package for sinter machine #1 & total automation of Pump house#1 for Blast Furance of BSL, total Electrical & Automation system of BF at VSP, centralized Data Acquisition System at RSP, Replacement of PLC based control system for 02 Turbo compressor in Bokaro Steel plant, Design, Engineering, Supply, Erection & Commissioning and Up-gradation of BF#1 including Stoves and replacement of PLC system of BC/BLT of BF#1 of BSL, Coke Oven Battery Renovation in Bhilai Steel Plant.
Bhilai Steel Plant had decided to build a new Normalising Furnace indigenously and IL was selected to supply the Automation & Instrumentation System. The system is now working on full load and M/s Bhilai steel plant has decided to modify the Automation and Instrumentation system in their existing Normalising Furnace as per the new Furnace for which the order is expected to be received in this financial year.

Scope of Work includes Ducting, Electrical Work and Civil Work required in Blow Room and Winding Department.

RAILWAY
The SSI system of M/s Kyosan, Japan (Model K5B/K5BMC) employs 2 out of 2 computer architecture having same hardware and same software for the Main interlocking Logic Unit, Electronic terminals for relay interface, Signal Control, Switch Control etc. The panel interface electronic terminal units and system monitoring units are configured in single computer configuration. In the normal system called Duplex system, all these units i.e. Main interlocking logic unit and Electronic terminal units are further duplicated to be used as hot standby. However, there is a flexibility to configure the system in Single configuration or we may employ the main interlocking logic unit in hot standby

Railway Signalling System
A) Railway Signalling IL made a modest start in the Railway Signalling field in the year 1985 by successfully executing a turnkey job for two wayside stations in Kota Division of Western Railway. The job involved design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply of material for the provision of Panel interlocking system at these stations. PI system provides for the failsafe operation of Signals and point machines for the movement of trains. The “Domino type” control-cum-indication panel, Relay racks, Cable termination racks, Power supply panels etc required for the system were manufactured for the first time.Enthused by this initial success, IL ventured into the Railway Signalling field in a major way. Now Railway Signaling Systems is one of the major areas of operation for IL.IL has achieved a high degree of excellence in designing, manufacturing, supplying, installation, testing and commissioning of Railway Signaling Systems comprising of Panel Interlocking, Route Relay Interlocking, Multi Aspect Colour light Signaling etc. The complex circuit designs for the systems are carried out on computer aided systems Many such jobs have already been executed for Western Railway, Central Railway, Southern Railway, Central Railway, Railway Electrification, RITES, IRCON, NTPC etc. The turnkey jobs involve design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning works. The engineers are well trained and experienced to carry out the design of Railway Signalling systems using proven as well as non-proven type of relays. The types of relays manufactured are Ordinary DC neutral line relays, Track relays, both AC immune and Non-AC Immune. These relays are supplied duly inspected by Railway Design and Standards Organization of Indian Railways (RDSO). The unit is ISO-9001-2008 certified.Apart from the conventional relay based systems, IL have supplied K-5B/K5BMC type Solid State Interlocking (SSI) system to Indian Railways as well as steel plant in collaboration with M/s Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Co Ltd., Japan. M/s Kyosan have supplied and executed more than 400 system in Japan and overseas countries and enjoys about 70% of Japanese market. The SSI systems supplied are working satisfactorily in the high-density routes and have excellent track record of safety.

(B) Manufacture of Goods Wagon (Both MS & SS ) Body Arrangements including side walls, End walls, Flap doors & Body side hold etc.
IL entered in the field of refurbishment of goods wagons for Indian Railways in year 2009. IL have already supplied Body side arrangements i.e.set of left & right side walls , Flap doors against the orders secured from west central railways, Jabalpur and Kota for BOXN wagons i.e. MS coaches. These items are being supplied duly inspected by RITES. The quality of the product has been found highly satisfactory. The efforts are on to commence refurbishment of SS wagons, also for which infrastructure / facilities are being enhanced as per RDSO requirement.
(C) Manufacture of Control panels / Switch Board cabinets for LHB Coaches:
IL have commenced Manufacture & supply of Control panels / Switch Board cabinets for LHB types of coaches manufactured by Railway Coach factory, Kapurthala. Some of these panels/ cabinets have already been made part of LHB coaches manufactured by RCF and found to be working satisfactorily. IL is in advanced stage of obtaining RDSO approval for these items , consequent to transfer of design document by RCF to RDSO and procurement made mandatory by RDSO approved vendors.
Contract Manufacturing & Calibration Services
Instrumentation Limited is one of the oldest companies working in C&I field. IL was established in 1964 to attain self reliance in this field. All the required infrastructure was made available in house to make the company self sufficient and need not rely on outer sources, which in any case was not available nearby Kota. Due to this IL can boast of having best infrastructure facility available in comparison to our competitors in C&I field. IL has continued to keep this trend and has been adding new machines with change of technology. The infrastructure/Facilities available with IL is :

PCB Centre
Instrumentation Limited 's state-of-art Electronic assemblies plant at Kota is equipped to assemble & test the PCBs for through-hole, SMT & combination of both . The unit set up by us is Clean, Dust free & AC environment, ESD protected. The centrally air condition PCB assembly & testing area is spread over 20,000 square feet.
We have fully automatic programmable Pick & Place M/c Model Viteese of M/s Europlacer . The Machine is most versatile . It can place not only chip components but also components in Trays, Tubes & Tapes .It can place components CHIPS, SOT, SOD, MELFS, MINI-MELFS, SOIC, PLCC, QFP, PQF, BGA ...

CNC Centre
To keep pace with time and to meet the changing technological demand of the manufactured / machined components, CNC Centre was established in 1988. Following three machines are installed in CNC Centre.

3) CNC 3-D MEASURING MACHINE CARL ZEISS UC550
These machines have given us assured production with negotiable process rejections. These machines enabled IL to indigenise various product ranges speedily. It would be much faster to execute on-time order at minimum cost. For quick inspection of first work piece produced by CNC machines & for random sampling of production runs, IL have CNC-3D Co-ordinate measuring machine in CNC Centre. CNC-3D Co-ordinate measuring machine is an advance, multipurpose quality control system used to help the inspection to keep pace with modern requirements. It replaces long, complex and inefficient conventional inspection methods with simple procedures that are much faster as well as accurate. It reduces or eliminates CNC down time, cuts down scrap and rework. A CMM can check the dimensional and geometric accuracy of every item from big complex mechanical parts to flexible rubber, plastic moulded parts. It measures virtually any part at any stage of production with exact precision and substantial time savings.
