About Collaborative Solutions Collaborative Solutions provides personalized mental health services to people who have some type of current legal involvement, such as probation or parole. Part of our program's mission is to divert people into treatment, and avoid incarcera- tion, whenever possible. A person centered plan is developed within one month of entering treatment, which helps the consumer identify his personal dreams and set goals to make them a reality. When a person becomes involved in the legal system, there are numerous opportu- nities for jail diversion to occur, including: Pre-booking: Diversion at first point of contact with law enforcement. The goal is for the individual to avoid entry into the legal system and instead be connected to appropriate mental health services within the community. Pre-trial and Pre-adjudication: Prior to sentencing, individuals may have an opportunity to demonstrate their willingness to address problematic behaviors and/or participate in mental health and substance abuse treatment, which can result in a diversion. By following requirements imposed by the legal system, the person has an opportunity to reduce or avoid jail time and/or may even be able to have the offense expunged from their record. Oakland County Jail: Some individuals may have an opportunity to get out of jail early if linkage to mental health services is established. community corrections, drug courts, juvenile programs and outpatient and inpatient treatment programs. Family Psychoeducational Groups: This program offers family members the opportunity to participate in regularly scheduled groups to learn more about effective treatments for mental illness and substance abuse, and to identify ways to assist in the recovery process. PERSONALIZED TREATMENT: Collaborative Solutions provides services that are tailored to each person's needs by offering: • Comprehensive mental health and substance abuse needs assessments, completed during the first two appointments. • A person centered plan that is developed within one month of entering treatment, which helps you to identify your personal dreams and set goals to help make them a reality. • Using a team approach, your therapist and/or case manager, psychiatrist, family members or significant others will work in partnership with you to help achieve your goals and improve your quality of life. Plans for program completion begin during the assessment. Your clinician will help you achieve your treatment goals and then plan for your “next step,” transitioning you into other services within the community that can meet your needs. Parole/Probation: Services are geared toward managing symptoms and/or effectively addressing problematic behaviors in order to prevent re-arrest on any new charges. PROVEN TREATMENT STRATEGIES: Collaborative Solutions is committed to using evidence- based practices to ensure the best outcome. The treatment models include: Co-occurring Disorders: For those dealing with both mental illness and substance abuse, Easter Seals offers an integrated system of treatment. Participants using these services can take advantage of mental health counseling (individual and/or group); case management, substance abuse education and treatment, psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews. Transitions Program for Young Adults: Transitions provides services to young adults, aged 18 to 25, who have either recently been diagnosed with a mental illness or who are transitioning into adult services from a children's therapy program. In addition to individual and group counseling, case management, substance abuse treatment and psychiatric evaluations, participants also enjoy bi-monthly recreational activities. Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT): Implemented at CS in 2004, MRT is a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach that was originally designed to be used with criminal offenders in prisons, but has since been found effective in numerous other treatment settings, including jails,
