For 20 years the Alannah & Madeline Foundation has been working to keep Australian children and young people safe through its prevention and intervention programs. OUR VISION Our vision is that every child will live in a safe and supportive environment. OUR HISTORY The Alannah & Madeline Foundation was set up in memory of Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three who were tragically killed with their mother and 32 others at Port Arthur, Tasmania on 28 April 1996. Our programs are in one third of all Australian schools and more than half of all Australian public libraries, and we support 10,000 children in refuges or foster homes across Australia every year. We have helped almost 2 million children and their families nationwide since we began in 1997. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT The Foundation relies on donations and the broader community to support our work. Organisations can choose from set 60 minute sessions or build their own workshops by combining a number of modules that match the needs of the organisation. We are also able to tailor workshops specifically to the needs of your organisation. Alannah & Madeline’s Foundation Connect workshops are developed by the Foundation’s Knowledge and Innovation team and expertly delivered by our experienced facilitators. The workshops offer organisations the peace of mind that they are receiving high quality services at an affordable price. Topics include: Care workshops The impacts of violence and trauma on children and young people Supporting children and young people who experience violence and trauma in the classroom Cyber safety The 3 Cs of cyber safety (an overview of 13 key actions to stay safe online) Module focus areas include: digital reputation, cyber bullying, privacy, connecting and communicating, inappropriate content, screen time and spending online Trends on the online world of young people Bullying The impacts of bullying on children and young people Everyone has a role to play: pre, inter and post prevention strategies Social and emotional learning, valuing difference, building resilience and respectful relationships Latest research and findings from the National Centre Against Bullying We also share our story with presentations on the work of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, resilience and leadership and our history.
