Introduction to Abandoned Cart Alert

Prestashop Abandoned Cart Alert will remind customers about orders they left in the

shopping cart and encourage them to complete the purchase with special discounts.

Compose several templates for reminding emails, assign the number of reminders and time

interval between sending. Feel free to set a cron task for emails to be sent automatically.

General information

Dozens of reasons make users abandon the cart and leave orders uncompleted. Control all

abandoned carts in your webstore and send email reminders to correspondent customers.

Specify the time interval when the first email is sent, the number of reminders and time

between emails. Use one of several ready-to-use email templates or create your own in

WYSIWYG editor.

Encourage your customers to complete their orders by creating attractive discount rules.

Configure the minimum cost of an abandoned order, discount type and value: either the

monetary amount or the % depending on selected type.

How to Install

1. Set 777 or 0777 on the folders: '/modules/'

Important Change all permissions back after installation.

2. Modules -> Add a module from my computer -> Choose the file (cartreminder.zip) ->

Upload this module. Choose module in section "Smart Shopping" and install module

3. Preferences -> Performance -> Smarty-> Force compile -> Yes

Preferences -> Performance ->Smarty-> Cache: No

How to Deactivate

Click the button Disablein Modules -> Smart Shopping.

To remove the extension form the server, press Delete in Modules -> Smart Shopping.

3. How to Configure and Use

Log in to the admin panel, and we will show you how to configure the extension. It is a very

simple process.

Navigate to Modules -> Smart shopping -> Abandoned Cart Alert. Here you can

enable/disable the extension.

After you enable it, choose Configure.

Here you can configure reminders and sending e-mails. Lets deal with reminders in

Configure reminders tab first. Deadline for the first reminder is time between a cart being

abandoned and an e-mail being sent. Specify the number and select the dimension from the

dropdown. The next line is where time between reminders is stated (if there are 2 and more

of them). Number of reminding e-mails can be typed in the 3rdline.

Save configuration as soon as youre all set.

The next tab is where you can test the proper work of e-mails sending. Enter sender and

receiver e-mail, choose a template from the dropdown (some of them have already been

created by us, but you can configure ones yourself - see lower) and its language. Click on the

Test reminders buttonto test the e-mails sending procedure.

Lets proceed to Cart Reminder tab in the upper right corner of the screen to create and edit

templates, configure discount rules and look through the abandoned carts list.

The first tab is Templates. Click Add new to create a new template.

Configure the outlook of your template in WYSIWYG editor in Create new template tab.

Select whether you want a discount to be sent and applied with this e-mail (see below how to

create discounts) and choose the templates number in order of the sent e-mails in the

dropdown menu.

Use variables in curly brackets mentioned in the window above the WYSIWYG editor to

customize your template. All the required data will be automatically collected from the users

account and applied to the e-mail sent to him/her.

Here is what a template may look like:

Variables will be replaces by correspondent customer and discount information. An e-mail the

user will receive looks something like this:

The next tab is Rules. Here you can create discounts for users reminders are sent to. Click

Add new to configure a new discount.

Enter the minimum amount your discount is applied to (type 0 (zero) for no minimum

amount), choose type of the discount and fulfill correspondent fields, if any appeared (amount

of % or monetary amount with currency selection). Save your configuration.

Finally, the last tab is where you can see the list of Abandonment carts.

Click on Viewicon in Actions column to view info about every single customer that

abandoned a cart.

3.1 How to setup cron job

Cron is a time-based job scheduler in Unix-like computer operating systems.

Cron job setting will allow you changing pre-orders status and notifying waiting users

automatically. To set cron task, you need to install free Crontab for Prestashop module

(http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools/671-crontab-for-prestashop.html)

The module is successfully installed and available in Administration section.

To create the task you need the link specified in Abandoned Cart Alertsettings. You should

copy it to the clipboard.

You need to paste the link to the URL field and select execution periodicity. If you do

everything correctly, your task will be displayed in the Crons jobs
