Make The Invisible Visble For the make the invisible visible we have to record 10-20 seconds of spoken word from a BBC radio station and create an kinetic typography animation. I was given BBC 6 Radio. I have collected research on BBC 6 Radio like the type of music they play and their target audience, to help me gain an understanding of what to do for the animation. BBC Radio 6 Music The remit of 6 Music is to entertain lovers of popular music with a service offering music from the 1960s to the present day. Its programmes juxtapose current releases outside the mainstream with earlier recordings, including music from the BBC Sound Archive. It should provide context for the music it plays, and support live music and new artists. 50% of music to be over four years old. 400 hours of archive concert performances. 15% of music to be concert tracks and sessions from the BBC’s archive. 275 new sessions (excluding repeats and acquisitions). Contribute to BBC Radio’s commitment to commission at least 10% of eligible hours of output from independent producers. The review found that, like Radio 2, the majority of 6 Music listeners thought the station was distinctive with 82 per cent believing that it offered something that could not be found elsewhere. It found that over the last four years the station’s reach had grown faster than any other BBC digital radio-only service but this growth had been from a low base.

Make The Invisible Visble

For the make the invisible visible we have to record 10-20 seconds of spoken word from a BBC radio station and create an kinetic typography animation. I was given BBC 6 Radio. I have collected research on BBC 6 Radio like the type of music they play and their target audience, to help me gain an understanding of what to do for the animation. I created some style sheets on BBC Radio 6 and a particular DJ that was on who Marc Riley to give me some ideas on what to do for my kinetic typography. On my style sheets I added information on how the radio station works what is their main feature and I also looked at what type of music they played. BBC Radio 6 main feature is live music and playing music that is four years or older. The type of music that Marc Riley played is like indie rock, pop and alternative.

Here is more style sheets that I created for the station and the DJ playing at that time. I added existing kinetic typography that I saw and researched that I thought would be helpful. On the other sheet I started looking different type of fonts that I could use in my animation and that relate to the that particular radio show and the recorded audio. Which I have added below.BBC Radio 6 Spoken TextBrilliant now err Peter’s been on, Peter Geg actually and err he said err, Mark, fantastic take, Rob voluntary butler scheme again. First saw him doing his loopy stuff when he supported Wild Beast a couple of years back and was just amazed by the technical brilliance humour and multi instrumental wizardry of the bloke he is fab (err..) The fan club’s starting there I think mate by the looks of it (nice nice) (nice). Laura from L.A. Hi Mark, you never played L.A. have ya.

I while I was TV this advert for South Park came I and I thought that this a great example of kinetic typography. So I recorded the advert and posted it up on my blog which is tanishalogie.gdnm.org I like this advert because of the layout, use of colour and the font chosen to illustrate the audio I think it all works to together. This has given me some ideas for my own animation.

Here are some more great examples that I found through research motion graphics and typography in motion. I chose these examples I because I like the use of different fonts and the different camera angles because it looks like the camera angles has given the type some life and made the animation more illustrated.

Here are more exiting typography animation that I researched and found that I liked. I like the fact in the first two images the type takes up all the space and how Jarratt Moody (the designer) has used a different typeface to illustrate that someone else was speaking. The last two images is from a music that is in Spanish, even though this video doesn’t meet the requirments of the brief because it has images in it, I still think its effect and eye catching and has great use of colour.

This animation is called Rockwell by Jordan Clarke. I like this vedio because its full of typography even the background is type. I also like it because of the effects used.

Here are my experiments with some fonts I found that I find relates to the BBC 6 Radio Station and the type of music they play. I’ve typed out the spoken word I recorded to get a feel of the font and to see if it is readable and to see if it relate to the station and the music they play.

Here are some of my initial ideas for my storyboard. Thinking about how and where I’m going to position my type and if I’m going to use any effect in my animation.

Here is my final storyboard for my aination.
