Implementing Guidelines of K-12 to Enhance Basic Education Curriculum

A. Design of the Curriculum

The overall design of the curriculum follows the Spiral Approach. The concepts developed in increasing complexity and sophistication starting from grade school.

B. Desired Outcomes of the Program

Pupils/students are expected at the end of grade 10 to demonstrate communicative competence, think intelligently, critically and creatively in life situations; make informed and values-based decisions, perform their civic duties, use resources sustainably and participate actively in artistic and cultural activities and in the promotion of wellness and lifelong fitness.

B. Desired Outcomes of the Program

It is expected that they should not only understand the concepts being taught but to demonstrate or provide evidence of what they understand. Pupils/ students should be able to apply in real life situations what they have learned.

What is unique in this curriculum? How is it different from RBEC?

C. Nomenclature/Learning Areas

English, Filipino and Mother Tongue - to develop communicative competence both oral and written.

Mathematics - covers basic concepts and ideas, skills and processes on numbers

Araling Panlipunan - nagtuturo ng mga konsepto sa pananagutang pansarili, pamilya, kapwa, bansa/daigdig at Diyos.

C. Nomenclature/Learning Areas

Music and Art - provides learners with opportunities to be involved and participate in correlating music and art to his/her own cultural identity.

Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao - gagabay at huhubog sa pagkatao ng mag-aaral;may pananagutan sa kapwa at may pagmamahal sa kapwa.

D. Medium of Instruction

Mother tongue is used as a subject and as medium of instruction.
