Innovation has given filmmakers better control over budget, the look and feel of motion pictures. Today, from thehumble short film debuting on YouTube, to a major motion picture flick, Digital Technology influences every aspect

of filmmaking.

e Digital Intermediate process is one of the latest to hit the market. In simplest terms, Digital Intermediate (DI) isthe process of converting film to digital information and back again. Digital Intermediates are most popularly used tohave better creative control over the final product, especially to create an in between step for the colour grading process.Although, today there are no more scanning and output to film again, the terminology has stuck.

e major role of DI has to do with color correction of thedigitalfootage. Since today’s CCD image sensors are verysensitive, they pick up all shades and colors in the scene.at makes it necessary to correct the colors so it looks nat-ural when we see it in the theaters. As the resolutions keepgoing up from High Definition (2K) to up to 8K and be-yond, it is increasing the demand for trained Color Masters, who can give the natural look. A well trained Color Mastercan command well over 24 to 36 lacs annual income.

e Digital Intermediate (DI) Course starts from the basics, introducing multimedia and concepts of layouts and de-sign. e course involves classroom based learning and a practical training on a Baselight or DaVinci system amongothers. RotoscopingRotoscoping (often abbreviated as "roto") has often been used as a tool for visual effects in live-action movies. By tracing an object,

the moviemaker creates a silhouette (called a matte) that can be used to extract that object from a scene for use on a differentbackground. While blue and green screen techniques have made the process of layering subjects in scenes easier, rotoscoping still playsa large role in the production of visual effects imagery. Rotoscoping in the digital domain is often aided by motion tracking and onion-skinning software. Rotoscoping is often used in the preparation of garbage mattes for other matte-pulling processes. e course is of 6months duration.
