But CalSO has some substantial problems: Time Restriction (specific days only) Location Restriction (on campus only) Expensive (from $110 to $210) Lack of Fun (students complained) Target User Group Incoming students and related persons Anyone looking for some illumination about Cal in general Solution CalExplorer seeks to enhance what CalSO offers from a student’s perspective. It’s a Flash game with content that can be scaled easily via modifying XML files. In CalExplorer, the user is presented with information that is grouped into missions. After reviewing the information, they are quizzed on the material in the form of three mini-games. Final Prototype Description The final prototype implements a game with the following features: Flash-based point-and-click adventure game Scenario-based: Players can complete 4 missions with different topics Three mini-game varieties: Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Choice and Locate Campus Landmark The game flows in the following order: 1. Welcome Screen 2. Information about the Game 3. Mission Selection 4. Information (Materials) Screen 5. Three Mini-Games Fill in the Blanks: User can drag & drop or type in the answers to the question Multiple Choice: User can just click on the answer Locate Campus Landmark: user will click to zoom-in a portion of the whole campus map and then click on a building as the answer 6. Score Screen 7.
