PART - I

INTRODUCTION TO C.A.R.T. : A Self-financing Vocational Training Centre

MHRD SCHEME: CDRT

▪ 1983: Centre for Development of RuralTechnology (CDRT) was established by MHRDunder Direct Central Assistance in DEITechnical College

▪ Centre used to receive Recurring and Non-recurring Grant Annually from MHRD

▪ Govt. of India deputed TTTI, Chandigarh to monitor the activities under CDRT scheme.

▪ Every year CDRT Operational Plan was finalized in consultation with TTTI, CHD.

CDRT ACTIVITIES

The activities of the Centre were:

▪ Technical Survey,

▪ Design and Development of Technology,

▪ Prototype building,

▪ Technology Testing,

▪ Transfer of Technology,

▪ Dissemination of information and

▪ Man Power Development/ Training

A number of activities was conducted by the Centre in association with TTTI, Chandigarh

Establishment of CART

➢CDRT Scheme in the country wasclosed by MHRD on 30th June 1999

➢DEI(Deemed University) took thedecision to continue VocationalTraining activity by establishingCART on self-financing basis w.e.f.7th July 1999.

CART - OBJECTIVES

✓ To make the deliveries of the CART to reach the remote areas in the

country and help weaker sections, tribals and women to earn their

livelihood.

✓ To produce industry ready workforce.

✓ To boost women empowerment programme of the Government.

✓ To support the policy of the DEI to offer vocational education on a no-

profit basis.

✓ To enhance the socio-economical status and knowledge base of an

individual.

✓ To promote scientific temper and train a person in practical technology to

make one better suited to the increasingly technologically oriented

environment

✓ To develop the faculties of thinking, analysis and reason and a habit of

learning in an individual

Centre for Applied Rural Technology (CART),a self-financing Vocational Training Centre,is registered and approved as SkillKnowledge Provider (SKP) by AICTE to trainthe students of Vocational Diploma of DEITechnical College in 2012
