a revolution in load handling linde dynamic mast...
TRANSCRIPT
Cost-effective storage requires the available warehouse capacity to be optimised. Warehouses and racking bays are being built ever higher. Today, many reach trucks are storing pallet loads up to 13 metres. These working heights place great demands on conventional reach trucks, which are working near their limits; and of course on the operators who face challenges in placing the load accurately due to dynamic mast oscillation and deflection.
These dynamic mast characteristics increase the risk of the load or mast impacting with the racking or other loads. This in turn can result in reduced efficiency, collateral damage and increased handling costs. To address the market requirement for higher lift heights and to eliminate the associated problems described previously, Linde Material Handling have developed a world-first in the Dynamic Mast Control and Electric Reach system for reach trucks - a truly revolutionary innovation operator-assistance system.

3 In 2005, 38% of all reach trucks produced had lift heights exceeding 8.000 mm. This was expected to increase to 52% in 2015 - an increase of 14 % - which further emphasizes the market trend towards higher storage facilities.

Operational challenges when storing at height storing at height
Dynamic mast oscillationDynamic mast oscillation
At higher lift heights depending on the reach truck specification - mast oscillation will occur and lower the operator’s efficiency and productivity. The operator has to wait until the mast oscillation has subsided before completing the storage or retrieval cycle. When placing or retrieving pallets at high lifts, the dynamic mast oscillations cause loads to be placed deeper into racking – the so-called “chimney-effect”. This means back-to-back clearances between pallets are reduced progressively up to the highest storage levels. This leads to slower, less efficient load handling and the oscillations increase the risk of damage during the storage/retrieval cycles, furthermore, loads are not stored uniformly.

Another challenge for the operator is static mast deflections which increases when operating at high lift heights. This adds to the risk of impact between the mast and rack or stored loads. Collateral damage reduces productivity ratios and increases handling costs.

The operators of conventional high lift reach trucks are constantly challenged during their work; and they have to meet these challengeswith skilful handling. Until now, despite technical optimization, physical effects such as dynamic mast oscillation and deflection could not be avoided.
A Revolutionary solution in load handling Linde Dynamic Mast Control (DMC)
To deal with the challenges presented by high lift storage and retrieval applications; Linde have developed a revolutionary solution – the Linde Dynamic Mast Control. A World first for reach trucks! The innovative core of this operator assistance solution is the power-ful and responsive, intelligent Electric Reach system. Conventional reach trucks use a hydraulic motor for the reach movement which is much less sensitive and smooth. At the base of the mast, the Linde DMC intelligent Electric Reach motor automatically compen-sates for the dynamic pendulum movement at the top of the mast. This minimizes mast/load oscillations by seamless, rapid counter movements at the base of the mast. This ac-tively assists the operator during storage retrieval cycles. In addition, the inevitable static mast deflection is also automatically and substantially reduced during each cycle.
The benefits: The Linde DMC solution enables faster, smoother and safer load handling and significantly increases productivity. The revolutionary Linde Dynamic Mast Control with Electric Reach delivers faster, safer load handling efficiency.

3 How does Linde DMC work? A sensor system detects oscilla-tions at the top of the mast and automatically compensates for these movements at the base of the mast with the intelligent Electric Reach system; oscillations are smoothly minimised. The customer benefits: safer load handling, increased productivity, incidents of damage are reduced, lower handling costs and an efficient, stress-free operator.

Save time, save moneyLinde DMC delivers a rapid return on your investment (Optimises warehouse efficiency)
The innovative Linde Dynamic Mast Control with Electric Reach system counteracts the dynamic static mast deflection and oscillations generated during the lifting process. The mast oscillations are smoothly and rapidly minimised. The inefficient storage cycle times suffered by conventional high-lift reach trucks, lacking the Linde Dynamic Mast Control system, are eliminated.
This time saving benefit is complemented by an increase in productivity; uniformly stored pallet loads and a reduction in incidents involving damage to handling equipment, loads or racking and the associated costs these damages incur. The unique Linde Electrical Reach system operates smoothly and effectively and is highly energy efficient.

3 The revolutionary Linde Dynamic Mast control operator assistance system, automatically compensates for mast oscillation and static deflection. This ensures safe, highly productive, precision load handling at all lift heights.
3 Calculation based on test cycles with nine pallet movements. The result: time saving of up to 17,3 seconds per pallet compared to a conventional reach truck. For a two-shift work pattern over a 7-day-week up to 8.500 additional pallet movements per year could be achieved. It would be a pleasure to calculate the application potential for your business.

Jan Bode works for a logistics company. He found that working with a reach truck fitted with the Linde Dynamic Mast Control system, which automatically compensates for mast oscillations and deflections, was extremely beneficial when operating at high lift heights. The enhanced mast and load stability enabled smoother and safer load handling, which significantly increased productivity.

The benefits Day by day
3 Enhanced safety and housekeeping
With Linde Dynamic Mast Control the load is stabilized. Storage cycles at high lift are significantly safer and faster and the operator remains confident and motivated. The loads are stored uniformly in the racking with no chimney-effect. Operational incidents are also reduced.
3 Increased productivity
With the mast oscillations smoothly and rapidly minimised by the Linde DMC and Electric Reach system; waiting times associated with mast oscillations are virtually eliminated, Storage retrieval cycles are safer and faster; productivity is significantly increased and handling costs are reduced.
3 Less risk of impact damage to rack or load
Linde Dynamic Mast Control minimizes the risk of impact damage occurring between the mast, racking, or stored loads. Significant productivity and cost efficiency gains are also realized. Every single reduction in collateral damage incidents; will save time-consuming insurance claims and interruptions to your materials handling operations.
