Background
To improve the healthcare quality and service efficiency, providers adopt information technology these years.
The hospital environment transform from labor demanding to auxiliary smart facilities.
In Taiwan, the aging society , we must consider whether the elderly can seek for doctors in the smart hospital.
Purpose
The aim of this study is to explore convenience among smart hospital facilities, and utilization of medical services, and association factors, according to their experience of healthcare utilization.
Materials and MethodsThis study conducted face-to-face interviews via a questionnaire. The participants were 50 elderly people aged above 65 years and those who were in the elder community care centers.
To interview the elderly the experience of outpatient visits using information technology : (See Table 1)
1. 86% of the elderly considered the registration counter is the most convenient.
2. 48% of the elderly considered the cashier counter is the most inconvenient.
To interview the elderly with simulation graphic of outpatient facilities in smart hospital, the elderly reflected: (See Figure1,2)
1. Most of the elderly reflected the facilities of information technology in smart hospital will bring great convenience to them(24%-90%), and the elderly (46%-100%) also had the willing to us those facilities
2. More than 50% of the elderly expressed they are not willing to use the self-service paymentmachine (54%) and mobile payment system (50%). The elderly could not trust the machines, and they felt insecurity.
In general, the association factors of willing to use facilities in smart hospital for the elderly included gender, education level, occupation, economic situation, experience of using smart phone and experience of using computer products.(See Table2)
