A NOTE FROM OUR PTO

Spring is almost here! Mother Nature teased us with a few spring-like days in February… here’s to

hoping the Groundhog was wrong! I am more than ready for some warmer temperatures, flowers

and some Spring fun!

Wrapping up February, we had lots of great events! Our Talent Show was nothing short of

spectacular! What amazing kids we have here in our school. Our opening number, the Minion Mix,

performed by some very talented LSE staff, was such a great way to start off a fun night. We can’t

wait to see what they come up with for next year! A huge thank you to Talent Show Chairperson

Amy DeBolt for putting together such a great night for our students and families!

We also had another great Spirit Day event at Gymnastics of York! All of the proceeds received from

our Spirit Days go right back to our school to support our students. You get to have fun times and

good food and are supporting our school at the same time. Talk about a win-win! We hope you are

enjoying these new Spirit Day events!

Our Bus Driver Breakfast, catered by our very own Brown’s Orchards, was wonderful. What a great

way to show our bus drivers how much we appreciate them. Mary McCartin & Bakhtavar Wykpisz

did a fantastic job putting this together, complete with booklets colored and composed by our very

own students, and a cute new keychain for those bus keys. I know all of the drivers were very

grateful for the delicious breakfast and the personalized goodies. We are so fortunate to have

drivers that make sure our students get to and from school safely.

Who is hungry for chocolate? Once again, our students did a fantastic job with the Gertrude Hawk

fundraiser! This is one of our biggest fundraisers, as our school gets back 50% of what we sell!

Please remember to come pick up your goodies on March 6th from 4-6p in the cafeteria (or car rider

line if you requested). Many thanks to Laura Mercadante, Katie Tyler, and all of the volunteers for a

great job with this fundraiser! Also a big thank you to all those who participated! We will

announce winners as soon as all orders (paper and online) have been tallied.

PSSA prep for our Third graders is now underway! Third grade students are participating in class

sessions as well as fun group Jeopardy sessions, in order to make them comfortable and confident

for their first go at the PSSA’s. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help with these

sessions. We know our 3rd graders are going to CRUSH the PSSA’s! We are so proud of you!

Coming this month… Penny Wars, our 2nd Titanium Jump Gym Spirit Day, a Spirit Night at

Texas Roadhouse and a very special PTO meeting on March 13! Dr. Dyer will be joining us to give an

update on the now-approved construction plan for Loganville-Springfield Elementary. He will be

sharing a lot of important information, a revised timeline and will be happy to answer any questions

you may have regarding this project. This is your opportunity to get information directly from those

who have it! We would love to see lots of parents there to show support for our school and to give

your feedback! This is a meeting you do not want to miss!

Wishing everyone a magnificent March!

to those who make sure our children arrive to school safely each day.

Brown’s Orchards provided our catered breakfast and the PTO

presented them with a gift bag of some important essentials (such as

tissues, hand sanitizer, and Chapstick), a button key chain with a bus

driver poem personalized from “Loganville Springfield Elementary

2018”, and a booklet of thanks from the students they are

responsible for. A special thank you to Bakhtavar Mody Wykpisz for volunteering to

help chair this event.

Third Grade Shirts!

Coming soon! Each year the PTO

purchases a very special t-shirt for all

of our 3rd grade students as a

memento of the fun they’ve had

during their years at Loganville-

Springfield. This year’s theme was

“Shoot for the Stars” and we had

some amazing artwork submitted!

Students had the opportunity to sign

their name for the back of the shirt,

and to vote for their favorite artwork to

be featured on the front of the shirt.

The votes are being tallied and the

winning design will be announced

during morning announcements and

on Facebook very soon! A big thank

you to all of our awesome students

that participated in this fun 3rd grade

tradition! We can’t wait to see you all

wearing your new shirts!

Gertrude Hawk Candy Sale The Gertrude Hawk candy sale

fundraiser has been a huge success! So far we have sold more than

$11,000 worth of products through paper orders, and the school will earn 50% of that money! Online orders

will be accepted until March 25th with shipping direct to the purchaser. Thank you to the many wonderful

students who have done such a great job selling candy and raising money for the school. Once online orders

have closed, we will announce the top fundraisers, prize winners and our total sales.

Candy orders should be picked up on Tuesday, March 6. The pick-up will take place in the cafeteria from 4:00-6:00 p.m. We are also offering pick up for car riders again in the gym so be sure to complete to Car Rider form and send it in by March 5th. If you have any questions or want to help on the day of pick-up, email Laura Mercadante at [email protected].

Hersheypark Tickets

Let’s start thinking about summer! The

LSE PTO has arranged for a group rate

again for Hersheypark tickets. The tickets

will be $30 for all ages. Tickets will be

valid any one-day between April 27-

September 30, 2018. The deadline to

purchase tickets is Wednesday, March

14. Look for a flyer/order form to come

home with your child and send back to

school by the deadline if you are

interested. If you have any questions or

need additional information, please email

Erin Ricketts at [email protected]

or call 717-428-2712.

SPIRIT DAY FUNDRAISER Thank you to everyone who

joined us for Spirit Day at

Gymnastics of York! The kids

had a great time jumping and

tumbling. We raised $150 for

the school. We hope you

continue to support LSE by

joining us on the Spirit dates.

TALENT SHOW

The PTO put on a great Talent

Show on Feb. 9th! There was a

great faculty opening number

and 36 wonderful student acts.

We appreciate everyone who

helped make the show possible

and all those who came out to

see the performances!

The PTO relies solely on

volunteers for everything we do.

Without volunteers to organize

projects and events, we won’t be

able to offer some of the things

we usually do for our school.

Current Vacancies are as follows:

Silent Auction Chair or Co-Chair

3rd Grade Coordinators for T-shirts/ Class Party

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer
