FROM YOUR SUPERINTENDENT

CCPS wishes our more than 2,700 graduates the very best as they start the next chapter of their lives. Graduation day marks a new beginning; a fresh start.

Graduates, whatever your plans are now, CCPS is confident that you will succeed. Believe in your dreams!

It is with great pride that I present to you an overview of one of the best school districts in the country, Collier County Public Schools (CCPS). We serve nearly 45,000 students from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12. We truly believe education is not only the shared responsibility of the school and the home, but the community as well. This is why we want to share the many successes of the past year with you, in hopes that you will continue to support our mission of providing quality educational programs for our students. One exciting event we most recently celebrated was our second annual iSTEM Competition which brought together students from across the district for a day filled with science, technology, engineering, and math activities. It was great to see the students showcasing their critical thinking skills and having fun at the same time. This year we witnessed our students take home top honors in many other academic programs, including the Laws of Life Essay Contest and our Scholar Bowls. Also, who can forget all of the talented students who participated in our many fine arts programs? It was a joy to see the students perform so passionately in our middle and high school honors chorus, orchestra, and band concerts.

I am extremely proud of our high schools when it comes to school grades and graduation rates. The majority of our high schools maintained an “A” and our overall graduation rate climbed nearly one percentage point last year to 82.1 percent. Additionally, three of our high schools were recognized in the top 1,000 public high schools in the country and our high school students earned approximately $28.8 million in scholarships this school year.

This year we have also worked hard to improve the way we communicate. We debuted a new look to our website and introduced a new mobile application. Both of these tools have proven to be an effective way to reach students, parents, guardians, educators, and the community.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the Class of 2015 on achieving a great milestone in your life: Graduation Day. We celebrate your success and I know everyone is looking forward to your future accomplishments. In closing, thank you to everyone for being an important part of the Collier County Public Schools family!

Kamela Patton, Ph.D.Superintendent

CCPS AND CCSO PARTNERSHIP

National Digital Leadership Conference

If you are a parent of a child enrolled in one of our schools, please know that the safety of our students is a top priority. Rest assured knowing your child attends a school that is a safe haven for learning thanks to our incredibly unique relationship with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. For 38 years, the Sheriff’s Office has been blanketing our schools with Youth Relations Bureau deputies, something that is not common elsewhere. Together, we are focused on a common goal: providing a safe learning environment for our students, school staff members, parents, and volunteers.

Collier County Public Schools was excited to welcome representatives from 72 school districts visiting from 23 states during the Solution Tree National Digital Leadership Conference held in Naples. Participants had the opportunity to tour our schools and learn how our teachers successfully implement digital learning in their classrooms every day.
