The ptimist

Creed PROMISE YOURSELF . . .TO be so strong that

nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

TO talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

TO make all your friends feel that there is something in them.

TO look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

TO think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

TO be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

TO forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

TO wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

TO give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

TO be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Christian D. Larson

A week ago Friday saw a good turnout for TRISTAR BASKETBALL at the HASLAM Boys & Girls Club. Chairman FRANK LEUTHOLD wishes to thank his bride and daughter along with fellow Optimists JIM ADCOCK, JASEN BRADLEY, MICHELE COX, DAVE & NANCY HARTER, BOB FREEMAN, DAN McGEHEE and BRENDA & SAVANNAH STATON for their assistance.

Token Game Tavern in the Seven Oaks Plaza was the site of our most recent social. The food was reported by all as “good to great”. Drink selection ditto. On Wednesday 16 May 2018, our next stop is West Hills Flats & Taps, 7403 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, beginning at 5:30 pm. Invite a friend to join you and meet a bunch of Optimists outside our Friday gathering.

A regular at Optimist activities, SAVANNAH STATON and her grandmother DONNA BUSWELL spotted this billboard presented by www.PassItOn.com. At last week’s meeting a visiting parent commented on The Optimist Creed. He opined that it would be easier to memorize than live by. I told him it is worth all the effort! Elected! Congratulations to President BETH O’BRIEN. When the 2018-2019 Optimist year begins 1 October 2018, she will serve our Zone as Lt. Governor.
