As a General Contractor, I know the importance of a strong foundation. The structures I build are only as good as the foundations they are built upon. That’s why I spend so much time and effort ensuring it’s built correctly before moving on to the next phase of construction.

Did you know the same principle applies to the first five years of a child’s life?

The time we spend with our children from birth to Kindergarten will lay the foundation from which they build their entire life.Thank you to our donors for supporting the Children & Family Resource Center as they build strong foundations for the families in our community.

The last decade has brought many changes that are impossible to ignore. Areas like fashion, technology, and education, to name a few, have changed drastically. While we can only speculate what the next decade will hold, one thing is certain, today’s toddlers are the workforce of tomorrow. The babies born today will eventually be our nurses, engineers, educators, and whatever other new careers may develop by 2045.

The past year at the Children & Family Resource Center has also seen change with an updated mission statement, the addition of staff including a new Executive Director, new programs like the Early Childhood Workforce Development, and innovative collaborations with community partners. The words in our mission statement may have changed, but our vision is the same,

“uniting our community to create an ideal place for children.”Last year, we reached over 4,000 children through our 13 programs thanks to you, our generous supporters. Your gifts of time and money make it possible for the Children & Family Resource Center to offer programs that help parents create positive and meaningful interactions with their children to nurture their development and growth and prevent child abuse and neglect. Our programs provide support and guidance to educators in child care centers and family child care homes every day. Our staff makes home visits to families to make sure we reach parents who might live in more isolated regions of our county and help them navigate the triumphs and challenges of parenthood.

The programs at the Children & Family Resource Center are creating quality early childhood experiences for all the children we serve so we can build strong foundations and ensure a bright future for all generations. We sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to the next decade of impact.

I was a bit hesitant at first, letting a stranger into my personal life, but if not for my parents and my mentor Rachel, from APP, I don’t think I would have been as motivated to succeed. Thank you CFRC for everything you do to support families and especially teen parents!

- Stephanie & Moses

Children and Family Resource Center has been a part of my life for many years, but when it truly made an impact on me was when I became a part of the Adolescent Parenting Program.

- Tasha & Jason

The Adolescent Parenting Progam helps adolescent parents build better futures for themselves and their child by providing support to continue their education, delay a subsequent pregnancy, improve parenting abilities and to become self-sufficient and better able to support themselves and their families.

Parents as Teachers promotes the optimal early development,

learning and health of young children (prenatal to 5) by

supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers through home visits, group connections,

screenings and resource connections.

Parents as Teachers has helped us to grow and become better informed on how to educate our kids and learn of

things in our community.

Every year we see more and more children coming in with speech delays. The PREP screenings identify those delays and then they go to work with the children, providing the child, their parents, and their teachers with the tools and resources to develop the language skills they are lacking.

I wish there were more PREP people and that they could be in our Center year-round.

PREP (Preschoolers Reaching Educational Potential) prepares children (ages 3 to 5) for successful learning through early detection of developmental delays via annual screenings and follow-up remedial services. Screenings are held at area childcare and preschool centers and include screenings for vision, hearing, and developmental skills.
