After five decades of developing neighborhoods, we understand communities need more than housing to thrive. In 2017, we went beyond creating new homes for 100 more

Cincinnati families and joined a team led by 3CDC to recreate the 4.5-acre Ziegler Park. Thanks to our New Markets Tax

Credit investment and community collaborations, local families now have a safe, inviting place to gather and play.

Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood has been a cultural hub since 1875. Despite this history, the Asian population has been dwindling due to rising rents. When the affordability of TCB’s 88-unit Chauncy House Apartments development was set to expire, we partnered with the Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) to preserve and restore this critical family housing.

The CPA helped organize Chauncy House residents, going door-to-door to enlist support for project-based Section 8 rental vouchers that were needed to refinance the property and keep it affordable. Working together with empowered neighbors, TCB and CPA preserved and restored 88 affordable homes for the next generation of Chinatown families.

Community Life is our community-based model that supports 5,668 families and seniors in 38 communities to build their own success. We work with residents and neighborhood partners to create success plans for the entire community. Community Life connects residents with the resources they value most, such as preschool referrals for a working mother, health coaching for an aging senior or an afterschool program for a young scholar. TCB Community Life makes stable housing a platform for opportunity and success.

At our Cascade Village community in Akron, health and housing come together as part of the Community Life nursing internship collaboration with Hiram College. Nursing interns engage residents with medical screening, health coaching and resource referrals to manage their own health. This program empowers our residents with better health and provides medical professionals with skills and insights that inform community health care approaches across Greater Akron.
