Universitas Airlangga prepares its students for an integrated hard skill and soft skill lesson which include but not limited to intra-, extra-, and co- curricular elements. Faced with many global challenges, Universitas Airlangga encourages the students to immerse themselves more in in-ternational experience by inviting more international students to par-ticipate in programs which are intended for both academic and cultural purposes.

This program is especially designed for international students who wish to expand their knowledge and experience in learning Indonesian lan-guage and culture. We hope that the more international students come to UNAIR, the more they will know Indonesia, along with its local char-acteristics and this programs could be a medium where students learn to be global citizen through a lot of cultural and educational activities.

WELCOME TO UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA!

LINGUA offers benefits for international students who are an Indonesian lan-guage and culture enthusiasts willing to learn and understand the subjects via intensive lesson. This program will be conducted online for one semester (5 months) and are comprised of two learning programs: LINGUA Level A1, which focuses on beginner level lesson and LINGUA Level B1, which consists of inter-mediate level lesson.

The participants will take placement test to determine which level their Indo-nesian language capability belongs to in order to be able to begin their lesson. Through asynchronous online meetings, which consists of 50 meetings in total per level, the participants will be able to improve and develop their specific life-skills on the Indonesian language and cultural understanding.

for each international student partaking in this special program.

WHO ARE ELIGIBLE?

Undergraduate or Postgraduates student who has completed at least two semesters at home university and meets the following criteria:

• Able to meet the minimum standards of English language proficiency by taking and achieving a specific result in an English language test, unless exemptions* apply. Standards are listed as follows:

- Academic IELTS Test, overall score 5 or above;

- The TOEFL® Test, min 500 (paper based), 70 (iBT);

• Essay about the purpose of study (in English or Bahasa maximum 500 words)

* If you are studying at the school, college, institution or a university with English as medium of instruc-tion, please submit official documents to support and confirm your statement

1. Bahasa Indonesia Bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA)

Beginner Level A1

This course provides knowledge and skills necessary for understanding spoken and written text that consists mainly of familiar words and very simple sentences. It also trains learners to communicate in a simple way in areas of immediate need on very familiar topics as well as to write simple sentences. The learners will learn not only how to do conversation, but also common expres-sions and vocabularies important for conducting the conversation.

There will be two level learning programs in particular, A1 for beginner level learning and B1 for intermediate level learning. The levels will be determined based on the participant’s Indonesian language skill through the placement test that will be taking place online.
