Literacy: Go to: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-sailor-went-to-sea/z69vhbk and enjoy watching the short animation, A sailor went to Sea. Watch the animation again and have fun singing along with the rhyme. Join in with the rhythmic clapping.

Spelling words, saying words: see and sea are homophones. They sound the same but they have different spellings and mean different things. Read all the pairs of words on Homophones (below).

Pick a pair of homophones that you like. Write the words at the top of a page and draw a picture of each thing in a box. Write a neat, punctuated sentence with your first word in it, then write a neat, punctuated sentence with your second word in it. For example, I have chosen the homophones: ‘flour’ and ‘flower’. I might write the following sentence: I have made a chocolate cake using white flour.

Extra challenge: If you were a sailor with a boat, what would you like to do? Go fishing? Dive into the water and swim? Go on holiday to France? Draw a picture of you on your boat. Write some sentences explaining what you would do.

Spellings: Practise your spellings for this week (one final time). Try and write your words in a pyramid. For example:

I know a lot of you enjoyed doing this in your spelling journals when we were at school.

Project: PETo make sure that you are still moving and staying active, your project is to do some PE! You can do this anywhere (in your garden, in the forest, at the park, in your living room or even at the beach). You might have to ask an adult to help you with this! Today you are going to be strengthening your core. You need to be really safe when doing these exercises. You need to make sure that you are following the instructions very carefully.
