miniRadaScan is an advanced position referencesensor for use in marine Dynamic Positioning (DP)applications. miniRadaScan accurately measuresthe range and bearing of one or more intelligentmicrowave targets called responders, allowingfor the calculation of vessel position and heading.Based on radar technology it overcomes many ofthe limitations associated with DGPS, traditionallaser, acoustic and taut-wire systems.
Key Features Applications
• Operating range up to 350m
• All weather operation
• Reliable tracking from uniquely coded responders
• Single or dual responder capability
• Auto target detection
• Full 360˚ scanning
miniRadaScan is suitable for applications which use fixedstructures such as:
• Platform and Offshore supply • Wind farms servicing• Accommodation barge operation• Crew boats station-keeping• Heavy lift activities• Dive and ROV support
miniRadaScan is also suitablefor applications with mobilestructures such as: -
• Track and ship-follow• Shuttle tanker loading• Pipe and cable laying• Rock dumping• Replenishment at sea

The miniRadascan System
miniRadaScan Console
The miniRadaScan Sensor’s rotating antennatransmits a beam of radio energy and detects thereturned signal. Unlike conventional radar, miniRadaScan ignores the ‘clutter’ typicallyreflected by an off-shore platform, and only ‘sees’the returns from responders
Each responder adds its own unique ID to thereturned signal, enabling the sensor to distinguishbetween multiple responders. The sensor’scontinuous 360˚ rotational scan maintains target-
lock duringvessel turns, without theneed to resetthe sensor. This enablesminiRadaScanto be used‘hands free’,even duringthe mostcritical part ofa manoeuvre.
For addedredundancyand preciseheading
control, the miniRadaScan sensor can lock onto tworesponders simultaneously. Every responder can beused simultaneously by any number ofminiRadaScan equipped vessels.
Guidance Navigation Limited has recognised theneed for rapid response and have investedsignificantly in a Global Support Network ofAuthorised Service Partners (ASP)
Guidance engineers have personally provided allthe ASP with comprehensive technical training inorder to fully support Guidance’s range ofproducts.

“I must say that it is very seldom (if ever) to see a company with such lightning-speed of customer service response. Thanks and congratulations”
Guidance NavigationLimited also offer rentalsystems directly
miniRadaScan Console’s clear display andintuitive user interface enables DP operatorsto use miniRadaScan safely and effectively.
The same user interface is used on ourCyScan Console, helping to make sure thatCyScan trained operators will already befamiliar with miniRadaScan controls.
• Provides the kind of positional accuracy usually associated with laser or DGPS
• Operates through rain, snow, fog, steam and dust in temperatures ranging from -25˚ to +55˚C
• Uses coded responders making the system immune to false reflections
• Unaffected by the GPS/DGPS signal shadow when working close to platforms
• Multi-vessel Capability - each responder can be used simultaneously by any number of vessels
• All targets are UL and ATEX certified as intrinsically safe for use in hazardous offshore environments
• Fully compatible with all modern DP systems
• Easy upgrade options in the field via USB key or optional remote access
