PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES
(PMCS)
PMCS is the care, servicing, inspection, detection, and
correction of minor faults before these faults cause serious
damage, failure, or injury. The procedure and the category
of maintenance to perform PMCS are found in the -10 and
-20 Equipment Technical Manuals and Lubrication Orders.
A-6TM -10/-20 MAINTENANCE STANDARD
The condition of the equipment when:
•The equipment is fully mission capable (FMC)
•All faults are identified using the “items to check” column of the applicable TM -10-series and TM -20-series PMCS table and:
-Corrective actions, authorized to be accomplished at unit level, and for which required parts are available, are completed
-Required parts are requisitioned for faults that require them to complete the corrective actions
A-7
-Corrective actions that are authorized to be accomplished at a maintenance level above the unit are on a valid direct support maintenance request
•Equipment services are performed within the scheduled service interval
•All current urgent and limited urgent modification work orders (MWOs) are applied
•All authorized basic issue items (BII) and components of the end item (COEI) are present and serviceable or on a valid requisition
TM -10/-20 MAINTENANCE STANDARD
(Cont’d)
A-8
FULLY MISSION CAPABLE (FMC)
Systems and equipment that are safe and have all mission-essential subsystems installed and operating as designated by applicable Army regulation. A full mission capable vehicle or system has no faults that are listed in the “not fully mission capable ready if” columns of the -10/-20 TM PMCS tables that apply to the vehicle/system or its subsystem required by AR 700-138. The terms ready/available and full mission capable refer to the same status: equipment is on hand and able to perform its combat missions.
A-9
ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE AAction: Select and use the appropriate references to perform PMCS
on assigned equipment.Conditions: In a shop/field environment, given a selection of references,
for different types of equipment.Standard: The student wil l select the correct reference and use the
correct PMCS table for the assigned equipment during theperformance exam.
