    Gate facilities Matamata Spring Carnival Show, at Wilson Sand, 226 Hinuera Road, Matamata

    For all livestock entries and all vehicles Park vehicles as instructed by Show Officials, Security, and/or Gatekeepers.

    Gate charges Adults $4 each, children $2 each, family concession $10. Member’s tickets are for two persons only.

    Prize cups and trophies All cups and trophies will be presented on the day and those won at the 2009 Show MUST BE RETURNED by 30 September, prior to the show unless prior arrangements made with Secretary. See sections for Cups and Trophies to be awarded.

    Rules and conditions 1 No entries will be acknowledged unless accompanied by fees.

    2 Run under the Bylaws and Regulations of the RAS and/or Local Conditions as designated.

    Rule Book available at Secretary’s Office on the day.

    3 Each exhibitor must supervise and control their animals at all times and shall be liable for any hazard created, or accident, illness or damage caused by the action of themselves or their animals at the showgrounds. Exhibitors must comply with the appropriate animal legislation and the HEALTH AND SAFETY EMPLOYMENT ACT 1993.

    4 The Matamata A & P Association has arranged a Public Liability Insurance Policy in the Horse and Cattle Sections of the Show. This policy covers each exhibitor and competitor for any property damage claims that may result from their negligence while on the showgrounds.

    5 The Matamata A & P Association is an affiliated A & P Show to the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand Inc. and as such, the use of tranquilisers, stimulants, or any drugs capable of affecting the performance of horses and ponies is forbidden.

    6 Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk. Testing for forbidden substances will be carried out under the Royal Agricultural Society Forbidden Substance Judicial Committee (FSJC) procedures and rules (refer Rule 97 RAS Equestrian Judges and Competitors Rule Book and rule 55a of the RAS General Rules and Regulations).

    7 No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions or any other Show charge is eligible to compete at any A & P Show. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction will be lifted.

    8 The Matamata A & P Association Show Committee reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry without adducing any reason for doing so.

    9 Except in rider classes, every animal must be named.

    10 A novice pony or rider is one that has yet to win six classes in any division within the competitions provided at any A & P Show. Novice animals are eligible for open classes.

    11 Novice ponies and horses may be ridden by riders of any age.

    12 In all jumping events a skullcap must be worn. Note: all riders 16 years and under must wear headgear which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else with the showgrounds.

    13 No dressage type whips are allowed in ridden classes. Refer RAS rules.

    14 The measuring rules of the RAS of NZ will apply at this show. All horses and ponies must have a current height certificate which shall be presented on request. Prize money may be withheld if such certificate is not available.

    15 Starting times are approximate only, but will be adhered to as closely as possible. Although it is provided that horses may compete in more than one class, or any or all such classes may be judged simultaneously at the convenience of the judges or stewards, in all such cases exhibitors having an exhibit in more than one class must elect in which class they compete. The steward will call their name twice only. Entry fees will not be refunded if an event is missed through not hearing the call.
