Instructional Literacy Coach – Howard Johnston, Monica Garneff Assists in the implementation of an effective reading/language arts program. The role of Instructional Coach is a support position. The role of the Instructional Coach does not include the evaluation of teachers. Duties can include:

• Conduct demonstration lessons and assist with curriculum and pacing of programs to ensure that adopted reading materials are used as designed.

• Conduct focused observations and provide “next step” support to all teachers. Assist classroom teachers in diagnosing reading difficulties and planning appropriate intervention and accommodation strategies for all students including English language learners, Standard English language learners, students enrolled in Special Education programs and all students with diverse learning needs.

• Provide formal and informal feedback and professional development for teachers on instructional strategies and classroom practices aligned to research and standards-based instruction.

• Meet regularly with site administrators, teachers and coach coordinator to articulate goals. Plan and conduct professional development for paraprofessionals, parents, and community members.

• Plan, facilitate, and attend grade level meetings/study groups to assist teachers in maintaining pacing of instruction and utilizing data to determine next instructional strategies for improving student achievement in reading/language arts.

• Prepare forms, records, and reports for the purpose of monitoring implementation (e.g. pacing report, summary of assessment data). • Attend Local District coach meetings and use training to improve site implementation of the District Reading Programs. • Provide professional development to teachers through the Governor’s Reading Initiative, District 3-day workshops, and other Central and

Local District sponsored activities. • Serve as a resource to identify instructional strategies and maximize resources to support literacy. Perform other duties related to the

District Elementary Reading Initiative as assigned.

* * * * * Instructional Math Coach – Maria Swayne Under the direction of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Local and Central Math coordinators as well as the school principal, my job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Support all teachers and staff members with the implementation of a balanced and effective math program at Corona Avenue Elementary; • Plan and facilitates professional development, math training, inquiry grade level meetings, etc. • Provide assistance to school site teachers in the implementation of the District Elementary Mathematics Initiative including the Mathematics

Instructional Guide (MIG), the use of Thinking Through a Lesson Protocol (TTLP), the implementation of grade level concept lessons, and the use of periodic assessments. (Quarter Assessments)

• Promote standards-based instruction by providing model lessons, focused observations, grade level meetings, and professional development on instructional strategies, intervention models, and research-based classroom practices.

• Provide teachers assistance with strategies that support the delivery of grade level mathematics content to English learners, Standards English Learners, students identified as GATE, and students with disabilities.

• Support teachers in using the MIG (and the development of the quarterly curriculum maps) to plan and deliver instruction, systematically examine student work, and utilize assessment data to determine next instructional strategies for improving student achievement in mathematics.

• Plan and conduct mathematics professional development for paraprofessionals, parents, and community members. • Utilize coaching to create learning opportunities (such as during lesson studies, team teaching, or looking at student work) for teachers to

reflect on and refine their practices • Use technology (Accelerated Math, Internet Websites, Princeton Review) to access data to support and inform instruction for all staff

members • Provide follow up activities for AB466/SB472 training and/or other relevant mathematics professional development • Cover classrooms to provide teachers opportunities for peer observations and collaborations.

Intersession Coordinator – Maria Swayne • Organize, plan, and manage through out the year appropriate intervention program for off track intersession classes. • Provide teachers with notices, parent forms, class roster, selected curriculum, instructional materials, supplies, and intervention strategies

for intersession classes. • Organize, plan, and manage local school design intervention program for students needing support in math for in class services/

intervention during on track time.

characteristics, and social behavior relevant to educational placement and instructional planning. • Interpret the findings of individual case studies to staff, teachers, students and others directly concerned with the welfare of students. • Participate in the identification, placement, and review/re-evaluation of students with special needs; participate in the IEP team assisting in

the development of positive intervention strategies, positive behavior support plans. • Assist in developing written IEP’s for students who are eligible for special education services.

Psychiatric Social Workers (PSW) – Rocio Huidor

Healthy Start Case Manager -Claudia Carolina Hernandez Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 am to 6 pm Definition Provides case management services within a local Coordinated School Health, Family Resource Center, Healthy Start, or similar student support program; provides resource information to parents and students, including academic, health education, mental health, and other support services. Typical Duties:
