Principal’s Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
Father’s Day Celebrations
Perfect weather greeted our shared lunch on Friday in our wonderful grounds to celebrate Father’s Day. It is always great to see
a large number of families coming along to these days.
A big thank you also to the wonderful parents who organised and manned the Father’s Day stall which was held on Thursday
and Friday. This takes organisation and work behind the scenes as well as many hands to operate it on the day. Thank you again
for your efforts.
Sporting Success
State Rugby Union
Last week Vula, Ethan and Jack travelled to Richmond to take part in the NSW PSSA Rugby Union Championships. The Boys
represented the Riverina at the Championships. The team competed against 12 other teams in the three day event.

Riverina Athletics Carnival
Last Friday we had 27 students taking part in the Riverina Athletics Carnival in Albury as members of the LNPSSA team. All
students performed well and we were very proud of their achievements. Once we have confirmed the results, more information
about the day will be reported in next week’s newsletter
Leeton Eisteddfod
Last week we wrapped up our successful time at the Leeton Eisteddfod with Griffiths playing the recorder at the event. The
students practised hard leading up to the event and did a wonderful job on the day coming in first in their section.
As a school we believe it is important to support local events such as the Leeton Eisteddfod. The student and staff put a lot of
effort in each year preparing items form this wonderful event.
This Week @ LPS
Festival of Choral Music
This week we have 29 students travelling to Sydney to take part in the Annual DoE Festival of Choral Music at the Sydney Opera
House. Our students will be performing as part of the choir at the event and have been practising hard over the last 6 months. I
am looking forward to the event on Thursday evening.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Once again, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the
Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and
other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching
practices.
The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about
school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. More than 6,300 schools
in Australia and around the world have used Tell Them From Me to survey 5.4 million students. Capturing the voices of our
students will help improve how we do things at our school.
More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au

I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to
complete. It will be administered during school hours between 26th August and 25th October. Participating in the survey is
entirely voluntary.
A consent form has been sent home with students. If you do not want your child or children to participate, please return the
form to school by Friday 30th August Copies of the form and FAQs are available from:
http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents.
Wishing you all a great week

Lost Property
If you have lost any items of clothing please look in Lost Property near the Primary
Staffroom door and in the cupboard in the walkway leading to Infants Staffroom. Parents
are asked to ensure that all jumpers, hats etc have student names on them so they can be
reunited with their owners.

RUGBY UNION STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Jack, Ethan and Vula who represented Riverina at the Rugby Union State Championships over three days in Sydney last
week. Day One started with a victory for Riverina against North West, which was followed by two losses against MacKillop and Polding, who
were always going to be tough to beat. Unfortunately, two key members of the team were ruled out of the competition with concussion on
our first day and the team captain succumbed to illness. Day Two was tough with many team members out with injury and illness, which saw
Riverina defeated by Western and South Coast. On Day two and Day Three, two members of the team succumbed to illness, another two were
ruled out with concussion and two broke their collar bones. On Day Three, Riverina had no bench and narrowly lost their first game to North
West, however with pure grit and determination they managed to bounce back with a win against North Coast.
Congratulations to our LPS boys who represented their school and region with great pride and dignity. The coaches from other regions
complimented the Riverina team on how amazing it was to see them display so much resilience and determination, when the chips were
down, with many members of the team ruled out with injury and illness.
