Blank hardened
Treated clothing with scalefree surface.
Needle Finish NF
Electrochemical polishing and rounding of all edges on the
clothing teeth.
Surface treatment
Depending on the fi ber material, a choice of surface fi nishes is available. According to the clothing type and area of application,
a special surface treatment might be suitable. We distinguish between:
Steel alloys
Depending on the application and demands, Graf can
supply various alloys. Diff erent steel alloys can be used
depending on the clothing type and area of application.
• CS (CUTTYSHARP) for the highest demands and lifetimes
up to 1100 t for cylinder clothings. Recommended for card
production rates of 50 kg/h and more. A TSG (Traversing
Resharpening Device) is essential for activating and
resharpening these clothings.
• Steel alloy with special additives. Substantially increased
lifetimes compared to conventional clothing. Lifetimes of up
to 800 t can be easily achieved. Used for card production
rates up to 50 kg/h. This alloy can also be activated with
conventional grinding equipment.
Polidur treatment
Improved surface fi nish achieved with electrochemical polishing.
The clothing is completely de-burred at the same time.

CS
Downtimes (grinding / clothing)

Smooth Finish SF
Mechanical treatment for smoothing and refi ning the clothing
surfaces. The running-in time is reduced to a minimum, therefore
a consistently high quality is ensured right from the start.

Camel – The innovative clothings for signifi cantly better results
for carded and combed yarns
The innovative geometry of the Camel metallic card clothing
allows for effi cient use of raw material while enhancing the
quality.
The camel shape – both as cylinder or licker-in clothing – has
the positive attribute that the special tooth shape keeps the fi bers
in a defi ned position during processing. This leads to improved
results in the elimination of neps, gentle fi ber processing and
carding and as a result fewer short fi bers and a high degree of
elimination of dead and immature fi bers. These special clothings
are available in a large variety of executions and are suitable
for application on all card types. This innovative metallic card
clothing is available with standard profi les for cylinders and in
interlinked execution for licker-ins.
Customer benefi ts:
• Gentle processing of the fi bers
• Optimal guiding of the fi bers on the surface of the cylinder clothing
• Better nep removal and less fi ber damage
• Improved removal of dead fi bers
• Consistent quality throughout the entire lifetime of the clothing
• Positive impact on waste from the comber
• Improved fi ber transfer to the doff er
• Can be resharpened by the same means as standard cylinder clothings

Precision in fl at clothings
Everything from the foundation material to the carding wires to the fi nished
product is manufactured at Graf. Thanks to this in-depth vertical integration,
the high quality standard can be ensured across the entire manufacturing
process. With the introduction of the EasyTop fl at clothing generation, Graf
rounds off its range of products and now off ers clothings for all common fl at
clothings with the proven and known quality from one source. The surface
treatment developed by Graf guarantees less wear and longer lifetimes.

resist-O-top is a line of fl exible fl at clothings used for the processing of
the whole range of short staple fi bers (cotton, man-made fi bers, blends
and regenerated fi bers). It is progressively set without any straight gaps.
The progressive setting pattern favors the removal of short fi bers and
waste as well as the elimination of neps.
This setting pattern infl uences the so-called free passage, resulting
in an improved distribution of the carding forces and a positive eff ect
on the position of the teeth.

The PRIMATOP range includes fl exible fl at clothings intended for
the processing of cotton and man-made fi bers. The density is
progressive, i.e. the entry side, seen in the direction of the fi ber
fl ow, is open, becoming continuously closer towards the exit side.
SUPRATOP is a fl exible fl at clothing without any straight gaps used
for man-made fi bers. The setting pattern has a positive infl uence on
the parallelism of the fi bers and the removal of melted fi ber particles.
InLine-X-Top comprises a range of fl exible fl at clothings which are
applied in the area of processing cotton and man-made fi bers.
This fl at clothing with straight gaps and a diagonal setting pattern
is particularly suitable for cards without stationary fl at systems

Stationary flat clothings for flat cards and blow room equipment
EasyTop version
Fast, cost-effi cient reclothing through magnetic attachment to assure a
consistently high quality in the carding process, the regular replacement
of the fl at clothings is a prerequisite. This however leads to downtimes
of the cards in question. The EasyTop allows the exchange of the fl exible
clothings to be eff ected quickly and easily.
26
27
EasyTop is suitable for aluminum fl at bars with magnetic adhesion
technology from all manufacturers. The use of the well-known and
proven Graf fl at clothings is thus assured on all fl at bars, irrespective
of the mode of attachment. With the introduction of the EasyTop
generation of fl at clothings, Graf is able to provide card clothings in
the established and reliable quality for all known types of fl at cards
from one source.
Quick reclothing – reduced investment costs
As a result of the innovative mode of attachment by high energy
magnets, the cost- and labor-intensive processes such as stripping
and clipping are noticeably reduced. The fl at bars can be easily
reclothed without the requirement for machines or special tools
by the mill’s own staff within the shortest possible time. With the
straightforward exchange of the fl at strips, the typical fl at workshop
is not a necessity, resulting in considerably reduced operating and
service costs. The need for the mechanical stripping and clipping
of the fl at clothings can be dispensed with.
Reliable magnet technology provides precision and quality
As soon as the EasyTop is placed on the fl at bar, the magnetic
eff ect will automatically assure the correct position. Due to the
two adhesive and compensation layers, (see fi gure 2 and 3),
the EasyTop technique permits the narrowest of tolerances
within the entire system. Once the fl at clothing is placed on
the fl at bar the magnetic connection will withstand even the
strongest carding forces.
The EasyTop fastening technology is thus totally reliable in
operation. Unlike other, conventional modes of attachment
with clips, the EasyTop system is a nondestructive connection
that can be detached with minimal eff ort. Thus this fastening
technology favors carrying out trials effi ciently with diff erent
types of fl at clothings without loss of the existing clothings.

The edges of mote knives of high performance cards are prone
to wear out relatively quickly. This has a detrimental eff ect on the
waste extraction; the fl at clothings are thus subject to additional
strain and the quality of the card sliver suff ers.
The edges of the mote knives specifi cally developed by Graf
are laser-hardened in order to maintain straightness as well as
sharpness. Compared to conventional mote knives made from
aluminum, this accessory achieves a substantially longer lifetime.
C-Cleaner II, conversions for increased production rates
Graf provides the option to equip cards of older generations
with additional carding elements; this allows the production
rate to be increased at equal quality or else to improve the
quality maintaining the production rate.
Graf conversion of existing stationary fl at systems
For a quick, simple and cost-effi cient exchange of clothings.
Possible conversions:
• For aluminum fl at bars:
Conversion from clip- to screw attachment
• Conversion of existing carding plates to 3 stationary fl ats
• Replacement for existing pre-opening segment bars

Service pays off
Clothing service extends lifetimes many times over
The fl exible fl at clothings produced with the highest precision
have a much bigger impact on the carding quality than the cylinder
clothing. The number of neps in the card sliver is mainly infl uenced
by the state of the card clothings. Regular servicing of the clothings
not only maintains a more consistent numbers of neps, but also
pays off economically.
