“Everything written before our time was written for our instruction, that we might derive hope from the lessons of patience and the words of encouragement in the Scriptures…the Spirit of the Lord will rest upon him, a spirit of wisdom and understanding. A spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the Lord…” How special are the words of scripture helping us to really live the advent season. The promises and prophecies of the first testament direct our attention to the coming messiah and ask two things of us: patience and

encouragement. These are gifts already packaged to be wrapped during this holy season. What are the gifts? Because of Jesus’ coming we refer to them as gifts of the Holy Spirit offered to us at our Confirmation. During this week, unwrap each one, opening your heart to a different gift each day. May wisdom direct you, understanding guide you to see the need of the Savior, counsel in giving care and support for someone in need, strength to focus on what really matters and respect for the Lord who comes to save us. These are steps to be taken this second week of advent. By Rev. William J. Reilly “Todo lo que ha sido escrito en el pasado, ha sido escrito para nuestra instrucción, a fin de que por la constancia y el consuelo que dan las Escrituras, mantengamos la esperanza … Sobre él reposará el espíritu del Señor: espíritu de sabiduría y de inteligencia, espíritu de consejo y de fortaleza, espíritu de ciencia y de temor del Señor…” Las palabras de las escrituras son muy especiales y nos ayudan realmente a vivir la época de adviento. Las promesas y profecías del primer testamento dirigen nuestra atención al mesías que viene y nos piden dos cosas: paciencia y ánimo. Estos son obsequios ya envueltos como regalos para esta estación santa. ¿Cuáles son los regalos? Por la venida de Jesús nos referimos a éstos como dones del Espíritu Santo que se nos ofrecieron durante nuestra confirmación. Durante esta semana, desenvuelva cada uno, abriendo su corazón a un don diferente cada día. Que la sabiduría lo dirija, que el entendimiento lo guíe a ver la necesidad del Salvador, que pueda dar buen consejo y apoyo a alguien necesitado, la fortaleza para enfocarse en lo que realmente importa y respeto al Señor que viene a salvarnos. Il Abramo concepì Isacco per la fede nella promessa di Dio “e divenne padre di molti popoli”. Ugualmente Maria concepì Gesù per mezzo della fede. La concezione verginale di Gesù fu opera dello Spirito Santo, ma per mezzo della fede di Maria. È sempre Dio che opera, ma attraverso la collaborazione dell’uomo. Credere, infatti, è rispondere con fiducia alla parola di Dio, accogliere i suoi piani come se fossero propri e sottomettersi in obbedienza alla sua volontà per collaborarvi. La fede vuole sempre: 1) la fiducia in Dio e 2) la professione di ciò che si crede, poiché “con il cuore si crede per ottenere la giustizia e con la bocca si fa la professione di fede per avere la salvezza”. Una volta riconosciuta vera la parola

di Dio, Maria credette alla concezione verginale di Gesù e credette pure alla volontà di Dio di salvare gli uomini peccatori, la volle e aderì a quel piano lasciandosi coinvolgere: “Eccomi, sono la serva del Signore, avvenga di me quello che hai detto”. Dalla sua fede quindi nacque Gesù e pure la Chiesa. Perciò, insieme ad Elisabetta che esclamò: “Beata colei che ha creduto all’adempimento delle parole del Signore”, ogni generazione oggi la proclama beata. La Chiesa ha il compito di continuare nel mondo la missione materna di Maria, quella di comunicare il Salvatore al mondo. Il cristiano di oggi deve fare proprio il piano di Dio “il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini siano salvati”, proclamando la propria salvezza e lasciandosi attivamente coinvolgere nel portare la salvezza al prossimo, poiché “in questo è glorificato il Padre mio: che portiate molto frutto e diventiate miei discepoli. http://www.lachiesa.it

We would also like to invite you to the Novena, Rosary and Mass in honor of

Our Lady of Guadalupe. Rosaries will begin at 6:45pm and

Masses at 7:30pm in the Church through Wednesday, December 11th.

On December 12th we will be singing Las Mañanitas at 5:00am in the Church and the CENTRAL MASS

will be celebrated at 7:30pm

CHRISTMAS FOOD & TOY DRIVE

Beginning this weekend the parish will begin a food & toy drive until December 21st .

The items gathered will be given to families in need during this Christmas. Non-perishable food items

will be collected and New (unused) toys for children. Financial donations placed in an envelope marked

Christmas Drive will also be accepted. Boxes will be available at the entrances to the Church.

comida para las familias necesitadas en la época navideña. Juguetes Nuevos (sin usar) y alimentos

no perecederos serán colectados. Las donaciones financieras colocadas en un sobre y marcadas

contribución Navideña también serán aceptadas. Las cajas estarán disponibles en las entradas de la iglesia.
