Description of Oil analysis kitTRANSCRIPT
Changing the way you look at oil.
Oil and critical fluids analysis solutions for predictive equipment maintenance.
Machine Condition Monitoring, or Predictive Maintenance, is the practice of assessing a machine’s condition by periodically gathering data on key machine-health indicators to determine when to schedule maintenance. One of the keys to keeping machinery operating at optimal performance involves monitoring and analyzing the properties of its lubricant oils for characteristics such as contamination, chemical content, and viscosity.
Billions of dollars are spent annually replacing machinery components that have worn out due to the inability of the lubricant to perform the required task. Knowing how to interpret changing lubricant properties can increase both the uptime
Spectro Inc. makes a broad family of oil analysis equipment for evaluating machine and lubricant condition in the field, in the lab, and in highly mobile, handheld applications. For an up-to-date list of products and applications, visit our web site at www.spectroinc.com

Characteristics and Analysis MethodDegradation typically occurs from changes in viscosity or unwanted chemical reactions. Contamination can be caused by debris or leakage, or through the introduction of a foreign fluid. Debris and other solid particles may be caused by normal wear and tear, or by poor alignment or excess friction. The size, quantity and shape help determine the cause.

and the life of your mission critical capital equipment. The existence or amount of debris and particles from wearing parts, erosion and contamination provide insights about the issues affecting performance and reliability.
Lubricant oils, fuels and other key fluids analysis provide critical early warning information indicative of machine failure. Analyzing and trending the data means that you can schedule maintenance before a critical failure occurs. The result: higher equipment availability and productivity, lower maintenance costs, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), fewer outages, optimal equipment performance, and a greener operation.

Product Selection GuideBecause every customer has a different combination of equipment and machinery, a unique environment, and a variety of usage loads, requirements can be complex. The type of lubricating oil, fuel, or fluid being used and the property requiring detection are two key parameters. The most common methodologies for assessing machine condition are based on spectroscopy, particle analysis, and ferrography. For assessing lubricant condition, infrared, FTIR, and viscosity are used.
This table is meant to help guide your selection. As always, Spectro sales and support teams will help you select the right product
